I have seen many forums try and start up chat rooms. While they can be a success to begin with, they usually die down very fast unfortunately. its a good idea, tho i'm not sure how far it'll get. TBH IRC would be the best bet, and if needed, I have a couple'o networks u could use, or keeperx's one.

It's up to Spec really ...

    Cool

I like the idea of keeping the chat here on PL - if only to maintain the one-stop-shopping experience. Also, there could be firewall issues with other servers. (For example, if PL isn't blocked at work, you'll also be OK with a PL chat. Pehaps not so lucky if it's hosted on a different server though.)

As for Steve-o's question about my Ustream broadcasts, yeah - I run the line-out from the laser computer over to the line-in on the broadcasting computer. (Sometimes I run it through a mixer first though.) You get great sound that way.

You can even do it all on one machine if you want. But it's messy. I like having a separate computer to handle the broadcast.

I know this goes against what you just said Adam, but If Spec liked the idea of having a chat room but didnt want the burden of implementing it, we could develop it on another server and just include it in an iFrame. Then we are free to change it how we like, feature wise.

I'm having trouble compiling in lower versions of Java. And the JavaScript needs rewritting for IE6.
I will get this sorted asap.
I'll update you when it's fixed

    indeed steve-o, lol

OK the server has been exercised and resurrected.
I've compiled the code with a lower version of Java. Basically this means that hopefully those of you using older browsers like IE6 will be able to access the site.
I won't be able to test an IE6 browser until tomorrow so if anyone fancies having a go I'd be great full for the feedback.
