Anthony, you used a male DMX connector. I thought I had to use a female.

Also you know the pins form the FB3 DMX wire, there are 5 pins. On my DMX connector at the back I only had 3 places to put the pins. Do I have the wrong connector? Whats the name of the one I need?

OK Found it but it's well expensive...

Check out the Pangolin site's explanation of DMX....

The provided plug by pangolin was a 5pin MALE type.
I used a 3Pin MALE xlr type socket.
(I always thougt the 3pin XLR was the industry standard for DMX lighting?)

Ok I'm not sure what to do....
    The pango site says
A DMX output connector is always female, and a DMX input connector is always male. Some manufacturers use 3-pin XLR connectors, eliminating Pins 4 and 5.
I interpret that as I should use the female connector because the FB3 is outputting a signal.
It confuses me because they sent you a male one.

Nope.... the FB3 is a "ilda" projector controller.... i can be controlled by a DMX CONTROLLER.......

You can CONTROL the fb3 with a DMX controller/table.
So you put IN a signal.... use a MALE plug for signal IN and a FEMAL for a looptrue OUT.

    :-)

    Anthony,

So the fb3 is not outputting DMX signals. It can only receive them?

So the 5 pins from the FB3 goes to the MALE for receiving DMX signals, and I can also put a female one in to loop/daisy the signal on, by wiring pin to pin?

    Sorry for all this.

    Yep -

DMX functionality in the FB3 is RECEIVE only - basically, you can use DMX to control the same things with the FB3 that you could with the LiveQUICK software and a computer.

That's one of the big differences between the LivePRO USB for the FB3, and the standard LivePRO for the QM2000 board - the USB (FB3) version does NOT have in DMX output control, while the standard (QM2000) version does.

    Here's Pangolin's link on DMX:
    http://www.pangolin.com/LD2000/dmx-about.htm

    Concerning pin numbers:

Most of the US equipment I've seen uses 3-pins, wired using XLR-type connectors. Pins 4 and 5 are not used.
(Commercially-made 3-to-5 pin adapters are available)
DMX IN uses the MALE chassis connector (which you'll need), while DMX THRU or OUT uses the FEMALE connector. If you decide to use DMX THRU so you can daisy-chain DMX devices, just cross-connect the same pin numbers on the connectors.

Don't forget the TERMINATOR - a 120-ohm resistor bridging pins 2 & 3. If you use DMX IN only, I would recommend soldering the resistor in place. If you decide to use the DMX THRU as well, you might want to add a toggle switch in series with the resistor so you can enable (terminate) the resistor when your FB3 controller is the only device in your DMX chain. Disconnect (disable) the resistor when additional devices willl be added. Note that the LAST device in the chain should be teminated, and commercially-available DMX terminator plugs are available that could be plugged in the DMX THRU device on any DMX fixture to serve this purpose.

    Yes that is correct,
    Stuka explained it nicely.

For the pin layout i can't give you a correct anwser.
    I don't use a looptrue/daisy...
May be Bill from pango can help you
