    Smile More Pangolin shows...

There is another show available on the PL FTP server. It's my "Above" beam show from SELEM 2008. I never uploaded it after SELEM, so the only one's that had it were the guys that got it off the thumb drive that was passed around.

Also, I noticed that the "Made of Stars" show was never uploaded to Cruch's server (but it *was* available on the PL FTP site). So I uploaded that show to Cruch's server last night. (Check it out - it's a graphics show set to Moby's "We Are All Made of Stars" song. I think it was produced by Lightspeed, but I'm not positive.)

"Above" is a song from the Blue Man Group CD, "The Complex".

It will probably sound familiar - we ran it several times at SELEM with multiple projectors running the show at the same time.

Cool CD, cool song, and VERY cool beam show put together by Buffo!!

It was produced by LightSpeed Design Group. Bill purchased the rights to this show, and it's now available for all Pangolin LD-2000 users.

The file you're looking for is "Lightspeed_Made_of_Stars.zip". I just finished uploading it to Cruch's server, and it's uploading to Spec's server right now.

WOW! Thanks Adam and Bill! Man, it sure is great getting all these free shows. I can't imagine anyone complaining about the price of the LD-2000 system with all this free content. Pangolin Rocks as usual!

I'm a die-hard, self-proclaimed, stuck-in-the-early-80's, classic rocker, yet thanks to many of the LD2000 shows, I find myself listening to a LOT of dance / trance / techno music.
    Damn, how did THAT happen?
Same here... I'd never dream I'd be into this techno stuff but it goes with light shows so well. I'm really starting to like it.

PS: Bill did a little tweaking and clean up to my "Crazy Train" show (Thanks Bill!) and I uploaded the newest version on the FTP server tonight.

Gary, I am sorry but you don't even know what you are talking about.

    1. We don't "hire" interns.
    2. None of the interns that have ever worked with Pangolin have ever programmed in Delphi...

Nevertheless, man, you really just have a bad attitude. You don't see me coming into your Spaghetti-related forums and making posts that are just not nice (let alone, untrue). I guess you think that by taking shots at me, you somehow make your own endeavors look better. Sorry, it doesn't work that way...

And now some sanity comes into the subject. Thanks Highvolt!

Yes, that's the real reason. Even though we have 10 full time people at Pangolin, it's just never enough... Also, I would rather put our development time into the future rather than the past.

There will be an answer coming soon, and it will be a complete answer.

Actually we have changed our priorities lately. BEYOND will be delayed for a short while. That's the bad news.

Now here's the good news. We have decided to shift priorities and work on LiveQUICK 2.0. This will be a MAJOR UPGRADE to LiveQUICK. Basically, think of the best parts (and least confusing parts) of LivePRO, and add something special to it (like, really special -- like, "the next big thing" special), and then take LiveQUICK and make it even easier! That's what we have in store for LiveQUICK 2.0. The "the next big thing" is a part from BEYOND.

And now the really good news. All FB3 users will get LiveQUICK 2.0 for free!

So, basically, I hope you can appreciate this future-oriented approach. We could either stop what we are doing, and work on import abilities for LD2000 users to work with our "older" FB3 software, or we could work on the future which will be 100% compatible anyway, and also offer a whole lot more features and ease-of-use. We choose the latter.

    Bill,
As I'm sure you're aware, this is mainly a Pro-Pangolin forum and the majority of users appreciate both your commitment to the hobbyist scene and your involvement on this forum.
I can think of no other industry where one of the top men in the field would deign to grace a forum with his presence.
Please don't let the few nay sayers and detractors put you off from using this forum to let us know of developments on the laser scene.

Sadly it's a symptom of the times that some folks think they will become stronger by "slagging off" others whereas in fact it just shows their petty mindedness.
Constructive criticism is one thing but uninformed and ignorant attacks merely drag the whole place down.

I for one appreciate your presence and the fine work that your company does for us "little guys" and I'm sure that many others would agree.

I had to read this a few times to understand what I think you meant to convey. I don't think you meant to convey that most of the people on this forum have Pangolin software, because I don't believe that is the case. However, after reading your post a few times, I guess you mean that the people on PL are, by and large, not anti-Pangolin, and that even those who don't have Pangolin appreciate my commitment and input.

Yes, I certainly hope that is the case. One thing I have said privately many times, and publicly a few times is that I too started out as a hobbyist.

Only a few people know the whole story, but I started out like many of you -- WANTING to get into lasers, but the costs were simply too high. What I was able to do was to become a volunteer at a local planetarium that had a lot of laser equipment, but most of it was broken. So I spent my time there fixing up the equipment they had, and then improving it. This was valuable, because I could see what was working in the industry and what needed improvement, and then set out to make those improvements in both the hardware and the software.

So I know what it's like to WANT to do this stuff, but not have the money to do it. I am sensitive to this, because I was there...

I offer my help to people on this forum and also on LaserFreak.net (even though it is a primarily German forum). I also offer my assistance in the various PL gatherings and LaserFreak meetings.

I am happy to hear that you find value in this Soforeene!

    Oh, exactly!

Also -- take this challenge: When you find people debating what I say, or trying to cut me down in any way, examine what they are doing in their lives, either publicly or privately, and you will find that they too are working on something that we already do. Pangolin, as a company (not necessarily me as an individual) has accomplished many amazing things with a laser beam. Some people are jealous of this... I wish it wasn't the case, but it's true.

Getting back to your main point, I have offered my time and assistance in private emails and public postings to the James Lehmans and Carman Garys of the world (for example, Gary got the ILDA file format spec FROM ME and also the ILDA color palette information FROM ME -- who sent it gladly, and with no hateful words). I gladly treat anyone with respect -- generally AS LONG AS they treat me with respect.

Also, I think not enough people have watched the movie Bambi lately. There are some really good messages in that movie about who you should respect, how you show respect and why.

Thanks for posting this show a whole 10 months before the event.

(Even the readme says 2009, ya silly sausage!)
