Shutter actuators for sale
**Lowered Price**
Hi everyone,
I have 7 of the following brand new solenoid actuators for sale.
I have used these in the past as a shutter actuator.
They are 24v and the threaded spindle moves in an anticlockwise rotation approx 45-50 degrees.
There are two threaded mounting holes on the front and two on the back.
Manufacturer is Kuhnke
Diameter is 35mm
depth of body is 27mm
length of shaft is approx 15mm
The shaft comes through the unit out the back with a circlip to hold it, the overall length of unit including shaft front to back is 50mm.
I am looking for £3 each +£2.50 p+p
If anyone is interested please pm me.
Thanks

How would you go about making this into a shutter? i am just wondering and i might buy one

Hi,
Have a look at this link, under actuators, should explain it better than I can.

They could also be used to switch in dicroic filters or mirrors for a beam table.

Do you happend to know if these are spring loaded and can be used as a CDRH complaint safety shutter?
-
Hi,
They are spring loaded as in they spring back to home position.
I don't know if they are CDRH compliant, I don't know what the requirements are.
-
The most important thing is - Are they rated for continuous use? Or do they overheat?
-
Just tested one of them:
Do they overheat when left on.....
Er, yes, they get very very hot and toasty and smell of toasty windings.
Guess there going in the junk drawer!

What you need is a simmer circuit... You hit the solenoid with the full voltage to actuate it, and then after a second or two you drop the voltage down to a lower level "holding voltage" to prevent the windings from overheating.
I can't remember the specs anymore, but I think a standard Ledex rotary will hold at around 50% of the pull-in voltage. Maybe lower than that even. Dream Beamz used to have a copy of the schematic that was hosted on LaserFX years ago for accomplishing exactly this. Maybe he'll chime in here. (I've looked on LaserFX before, and I've never been able to find the original.)
