i know this is kinda old but it took a while to find some one that had 3phase and argon knowledge
so i just got back from visiting jon at daystar lasers in rochester ny (12hr round trip drive)

so the sp168 had a bad water leak in the head but jon said the supply looks like its new but we did not have a lot of time and the 168/265 had all the medical mod that would have taken a while to figure out and since it was leaking water we move on to the ionics
so the 168 is gas intact but has a saged cathode and a bad leak
but i want to revisit the 265 mod steve i am gona need your help on this one

    ok on to the ionics

well when we first hooked up the water it started shooting all over from the copper coils around the magnet so got some 2 part epoxy putty and fixed the leaks they held fine be we noticed 2 more small drips where the magnet sleeve is welded the were just drips and were not near any electric or the glass so we just kept a close eye on it and used some rags to wick it away it was just a very slow drip
so we decided to try and light it and after messing with the taps on the buckboost and wiring it in
it struck on the first try it had a nice cathode glow (no sag) then after about 2 mins the red start light came on and on the first press the tube started to glow a nice blue/green argon color
so at this point we had a nice argon bore glow but no laser so jon tried to align it and get a beam but time was our enemy an jon had a ton of other work to do so we had stop (we were working on it about 6 or 7 hrs) so we quit for now and decided that i would come back when jon was back in ny and had more time as he was leaving back to cali today

well any way i wat to give a big thanks to jon and daystar lasers you are the man and i realy appreciate all the help

Will turning the head upside down help the cathode sag or at least prevent it from worsening? Why or why not?
