    Question question about reflecting mirrors...

    Hi all.
    Talking about mirrors...

    Question:
A mirror coming from a photocopy machine could be nice to reflect at 90 degrees a laser ray?

I know these mirrors have very good reflecting surface, in fact reflecting coating is on the *front* surface, not on *background* of the glass, so the laser ray has not to cross the whole thickness of glass before to be reflect out.

    All the best

    Hi Steve
These mirrors are normally pretty good - I have never actually measured one to see what the losses are but they are cheap and useful

If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.

A overcoated front surface mirror is typically 85%, a plain aluminized mirror is 70%, dielectric is typically 95-100. photocopier is typically overcoated.
