    Question AOM with DPSS lasers?

    I'll admit up front -
I know nothing about AOM/PCAOM's, so this is a noob-level inquiry!

Over on the "Holiday Laser Projector" thread (http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...ead.php?t=5770), an interesting side discussion has started that mentions using an AOM with a DPSS laser. Makes me wonder - could this be a solution for the modulation response mismatch & "jellybeaning" I seem to be having with my 400mw 532nm CNI laser in my RGB projector?

I'm hoping someone who really knows AOM's/PCAOM's could chime in here with some "noob-level" info. Basically, I'm wondering about feasability, pros, cons, costs, etc., and any other related advice you're willing to toss my way!

    Thanks!

    Randy

i'm no expert.. im an a noob myself.
But i think you don't want a AOM because you lose alot of power (20%??) when using one.

But modulation is WAY faster then with DPSS direct modulation (>100hz). Plus the jellybeaning-problems etc. are not there anymore (and module has more stable temperature, etc.).

Good info in that thread you linked to -

    Thanks, Adam!

    Hmm...
Anybody got a good, inexpensive, complete AOM they want to sell that would work with 532nm?
