    Hi all!

I wish to buy a power meter (easy to use and cheap!) to test my lasers.

    HI,

If you need more power capability than the Lazerbee try the Viasho unit..
Its about the $400.00 Us$ mark.( I have one simple and to the point nice sensor) You can get hold of "Frank" here on PL .
Also maybe try "Bridge" at Laser Wave also here on PLhe may have something now.

    Cheers

I just looked at their (Viashio) website... Looks interesting... but they have no prices
quoted... Does it come with a Data Logging Feature/Data Graphing and Windows
software like the LaserBee I..?? The info on their site is a little vague....
One thing I like is that you can get different sensors... all the way up to 100W.
I Asked them for more info...

Just a side note... The LaserBee is manufactured and serviced in Canada...

I just received a reply from "Viashio" about their 2 Watt power meter...
The sensor area is just a bit larger than the LaserBee I Thermopile
    Sensor...
The Price for the VLP-2000 is $520.00 US and shipping from China to
North America is another $60.00 US...
That's near $600.00 US..... And no Data Logging...

The LaserBee I is a lot cheaper than that...
Granted... It is only a 1Watt LPM... but it does have a Data Logging
feature for $209.99 US plus Shipping..

Cheaper than most but they're still not what I'd call cheap. Wonder what it is that makes laser meters so expensive when multimeters are a few pounds.

Also, its a pity nobody makes a cheap exposure meter to ILDA standards as this is the only way to guarantee audience safety.

Personally I just wish someone made a dual meter that was cheap (less than £100) so both power and exposure per cm² were combined in 1 meter.

Not an easy task as there are so many factors to take into account, but... it's something that is being talked about behind the scenes
