    Default Laserworld Showeditor 2008

I brought this last year, for the first 5-6 shows i did i just used the pre-progammed shows that came with the software. Which i thought was totally lame, it was kinda like a DJ playing at a show using a 90 minutes mix tape he'd made perviously and then hitting stop when his 90 minutes was up.

Then 2009 show editor came out and it had a live function, with allowed the maniperlaton of individual effects in real time. The first time i used this function two things happened that had never happened before. One: the galvos overheated. Two: People where giving me hand slaps from the dance floor.

Has anyone else here brought this?

    Cheers rob

    Hi Rob.
    Welcome on PL.

I am a Showeditor user also.

    Galvos overheat?
    Most common issues can be:
    1) scanning speed too high setted
    2) too much wide scan angle.
    3) missing cooling by fans

Please, give us more infos about your laser projector and settings you've used.

    heya Steve

I've got the 45k laserworld scanners, a 300mW laserworld 'economy' green and a CNI 1W red 650nM i think, i ca'nt remember off hand what the red excate Nm's are. As for angle, I took no measurements, i just set it to where i thought it needed to be. I run them at 30k.

Im currently replacing the TTl Diodes with anologue modulated diodes and adding a blue.
So, when i put it back together i'll set the angles in keeping with the specs so it can run at 30k.

I'm also putting an extra 4 inch fan in and reverseing the flow of the two existing fans so the galvos get cooled first rather then last.

What do you think of the laserworlds software?

    Cheers

Hey Rob, like Steve said, what galvo's/scanner are you using?

We here on PL like pictures also, so if you dont know, just give us a pic and we should be able to figure out out

Does your scanner have any fans? Are they clogged with dust or anything? What speed are you scanning at, and what angle?

I've had lots of people come and shake my hand after gigs. Even got some hugs from pretty girls.

But I always ran shows live from a desk and worked lke a demon getting it to look good and synced to the music.

    Heya QUAZAR

yeah, people thought it was o.k when i just used to run pre-made shows.
But now i can live edit, they enjoy it alot more ,but yeah, i ca'nt leave the
    booth now when it's running.
But i'd sooner have it that way, i feel like i'm performing now, not just hitting
    an on/off switch.

I only use it for like 20 minutes out of the hour, i like to try and vary what's
happening as much as posible. People tend to get bored if something stays
the same for too long, no matter how bright and colorful.

I'm doing a show soon(18th July) i'll try to get some videos, i'd really like to see other peoples
shows here. So i can get some ideas.

What software do you use and what do you think of it.

    Cheers

    Rob

If the laser is active you shouldn't be out of arms reach of the E stop anyway.
