    its not to thin and its also bolted to the three steel bars underneath

    ummm i can lift the case on my own with ease so not that heavy

    I think you are going to suffer with temperature movement problems as the different metals expand and contract at different rates Andy. I believe this is why most beam tables are made from 10-15mm+ materials and held aloft by small, sturdy posts so to alleviate any movement.
    The beam table on my Silverray RGB is 6mm and it suffers temperature movement. It's on posts as well!
    That is why I have added quick release catches to the front of the case so it can be easily re-adjusted.

    cutting corners, geee another know it all!

    im putting a tiny dab of general purpose glue on the thread, im not covering the whole bolt/thread in super glue. if the laser needs to come out you just turn the screw and the glue pops off.

    each laser is being bolted down there wont be any issues.

    were the laser going on a rollercoaster there may be a problem but its not. a laser scanner is a very Fragile bit of equipment which should be taken care of and not thrown around.

    hmmmm is it true that his base-plate is too thin? Because if you say that his plate is too thin because his optics can get screwed up because of heat, I think you're wrong.
    The effect I think you mean is the thermal expansion, but if you look at the formula of thermal expansion I'd say you're wrong:

    As you can see, thickness (or surface) is not a factor. So taking a thicker plate won't do anything right?

    I'm sorry, I thought you were going to glue the laser, not just put loc-tite on the threads. But even with that, why would you only add 2 bolts?
