    Default AOM option?

    Hey all,

A friend sent me a link to this eBay listing the other day:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ACOUSTO-OPTIC-MO...QQcmdZViewItem

I'm not presently versed enough in regards to AOMs yet so I'm wondering -will this work for my ~3 watt DPSS? Is this a stupid question?

    Teach me, I'm a sponge!

pretty sure you would smoke the crystal at 3 watts..
I used the same for a 200mw Argon it worked but just robbed too much power.
it worked great for my 15mw HE-NE

    I don't think you'd blow it up with 3W, but I'm not sure it's good for 532nm.

It says it's a dual channel device, so that means there is probably a beam splitter in there somewhere. So you'd have to deal with two beams, if it worked at all. And you may only be able to turn the beams on and off. I'm not sure if there is any analog voltage to PWM device in the driver.

I can't see the beam path. It looks like there is a little hole on one side but I can see the whole thing.

Steve might know what it is.

At ~$40, it seemed too good to be true. I'll assume it's a no-go unless someone hops on here and swears by the things.

    Thanks guys.

I was looking at this same device as a means of analog modulation for my 100mW 473! I sent them a message and asked if it would work for that application, as well as if I could modulate two lines of my argon, but they never answered

Keep your eyes open for a IntraAction or Isomet AOM.

That AO was built for some custom device, probably a printer. With a hene.
It might work it might not. Either of the above would though.

the ex-xerox AOMs are flint glass, they start adsorbing and "blooming" at about 700 mW of green.

The problem is there is some commecial user paying top dollar and buying EVERY aom that shows up on ebay, except the former xerox ones, regardless of price.

Sunnking is the seller, and you need the isomet AO and the Direct Digital drivers from him. Good luck bidding, I've went as high as 175 for three of them and lost.

I have a bunch of 80 mhz isomets, I just need to get them sorted and matched to drivers.

You can be a pain in the ass for the guy by bidding on each of those, making the price of em high until he gives up and lets you have one ...

This one went for pretty cheap. I've been watching them too.
