As funny as you post may be, I understand what you mean!
I'm very much reassured by your post. Thanks LM532 (sounds like an ic from linear technologies )

DT-40's will trip the polyswitch on the amp well before they break. You'll know it, because one axis will collapse to zero. Just cycle the power and it will come right back.

I had this problem with an early version of my "Pop Music" beamshow that I did on the QM-32. There was an abstract in there that shouldn't have been scanned as wide as I had it set... Sure enough, every time I played the show, the X would collapse when that frame came up. (Took about 5 seconds or so.) I finally got smart and removed the frame.

As for the "Click - Plunk" sound... Fortunately I haven't experienced that yet. But I have heard some very weird sounds coming out of my scanners. Noise is OK. Screeching or squealing is not.

If you really want to hear something *completely* different, have a look into "Synaesthesia"... Tim Walsh has done several of these type shows. It's where the audio that you hear through the speakers is the SAME SIGNAL that is sent to the galvos. It's got a very weird sound, but it *can* be melodic. Think heavy industrial dance music, and you get the idea. It's something you either love or hate though. They performed one of these shows on the ILDA cruise. It was called "Sidewinder", and it was... Interesting. Here's a Youtube link if you're curious...

Don't start me on noises with my scanpro 20's

The main body with the connector on it actually twists from the rest of the galvo!

When im running a show, the noise even sometimes overpowered the sound in my headphones
Luckily all I had to do was twist it back to its "original" place (Where its quietest, but still works and stays cold) and it shutup. Kinda scary when you hear noises like that coming from galvo's. I think i actually recorded it somewhere

You should see it in real life! The lasers are perfectly synched to the audio, because the audio *is* the signal that is fed to the scanners. And amazingly, it's actually got some melody to it. Pretty damn cool stuff, I gotta admit.

Tim is a member here; maybe he can chime in on the effort to produce that show...

    LOL that is awesome!

So, if I pulled the sound from that vid, and played it thru my sound card DAC, I would get the same kind of effect ? (Minus the distortion from the compression of the video)

    I wanna try it

    that is AWESOME!

and things that may work i dono even if that would work you have sounds from more than one laser in there. since he has beam effects and also graphics.

Bit of name stealing going on here?

Synaesthesia is actually a classic trance track from The Thrillseekers in 1999!!

The original sounds like this and is classic trance:

You got it, Things! Though if you could separate all the individual tracks, then yeah, you could play it through a sound-card-DAC and get the same results at home.

I seriously doubt it. Tim has been doing this sort of thing for a long time - possibly before 1999 even. More likely a case of two people coming up with the same word in two totally separate circles...

I'll send him a message and see if he'll jump in this thread to comment.
