Default Sweet new way to cut glass

I wonder if I can pick up one of these "glass cutters" from my local home improvement store.

Yep, molten glass is hot. Believe me, I've tried... more than once (teaching my students how not to make capillary tubes). Just hot though, not very bloody hot. I think that's why he so abruptly decided to end that clip after having put his fingers so close to the heated glass.

Something that is bloody hot though is glass vapor at ~2000°C, and that something you see in the clip. Still not very bloody hot in the world of lasers.

Ah yes, melted glass. I've lost many sets of fingerprints on pieces of semi-molten glass

I've always wanted one of those Coherent modules. I've seen them go for as cheap as $200 on Ebay. Hope that guy has a good set of IR goggles.

My thoughts exactly, Adam. 808 nm at 60 watts? I'd be wearing goggles *and* a face shield.

    Still, pretty cool toy.

Me too; I am impressed the camera didn't get a fat dose and mess it up.

    Cool

Yeah... At those power levels, even a specular reflection could be well above Class IV levels. Dangerous as hell.
