Steve I feel your pain but at least you got the courtesy of hearing back from them.

In the IT industry in Charlotte they do not even confirm if they got your resume unless you get called in for an interview. I once did an 8 hour round robin style interview with no break even for the rest room only to not get a return call. The only way you hear anything at all no matter who the company is if you make it to the next level, otherwise they leave you guessing.

[QUOTE=dream beamz;73058]Steve I feel your pain but at least you got the courtesy of hearing back from them.

I had to call them twice, I was invited back on certain date, but it never happened, figgured it was a communications screwup, so I called them.

Thats what I got via email.

BTW it was a 3 on 1 interview with scripted questions written by the main interviewer. more like a act in a lousy play then a interview. What is a BNC, What is a RCA, what does NTSC stand for, How would you hook up a video projector. What is the diff between composite, component, and modulated RF video. How do you connect a video projector. Can you replace a transistor, if so, how. Have you ever swapped a card. What video editing software have you used. If a student assistant shows up intoxicated, what would you do? They really didnt like my answer of check if the student is diabetic or crashing and then follow university and state government written procedure, . (I had delt with entoxed students at the previous job)

If they are reading this, Dudes: BNC is not Brittish naval connector, it is Bayonet Naval Carlson. The Brits used a cool little connector starting during world war II for RF that looks NOTHING like a BNC.

And yes, I know my way around Avid, Vegas Video, Goldwave, and VirtualDub. Btw, if your reading this RS485 is Not firewire, thats 1394.

Guys - you can live like an absolute KING on $1500. - $2K / MONTH, here in San Sal - it is sunny and 75-85˚, like ~330 days/year,
and gorgeous, 'Gringo-loving' girls are as plentiful as the flowers. For those that HAVE a gal, well, she'll dig the beach and/or the cheap prices in the marketplace...

...And I am quite certain that a US-based laser-marking / light-machining Co could do very, very well, here...

...Well, it's sunny and warm and cheap, anyway....

Hang in there Guys... it's got to get better!
    peace..

    just kidding.

You and I and dreambeamz need to transition to the mental health profession. After this mess, fully a third of the nation will need us for at least the next five years. I can mail you a spare psych text and you can probably get a used DSM IV for cheap right now.

Note DSM= Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders

Thanks to Dr Lava and Mrs Lava for inviting me to their wonderful church Xmas concert.
Thanks to James for getting me invited to the Audio Technica warehouse sale.
You guys came through right when I'm on the verge of winter insanity.

Hey 532, head for the biggest megachurch or whatever of the faith of your choice and go see the God show. Its predictable, warm, reassuring, they will shake your hand and smile, and no sneering HR weenies. A plus is they can keep time and sing without a pitch corrector. A real plus is its better written(actually perfectly) then anything on TV.

I don't know if a faith lift can do anything for that avatar, but it really helps.

Now if I can just figure out what to do about the Woman in the parking lot who yelled at us about Chivalry while Mrs Lava quickly and expertly cleaned the ice off the car.

This happens a lot in the UK.

I know it can be harder for coloured people to sometimes find jobs but to my mind everyone should be treated equally and where there is suspicion of discrimination, the company should be investigated then prosecuted to stamp it out.

To put it simply, 2 wrongs don't make a right.

    Cool

I can't believe those interview questions Steve! If they had read your resume, they would know better than to ask such trivial stuff.

Like you said though - they probably already had another candidate in mind that was pre-selected to fill some arbitrary quota they had. Sigh. It kills me when qualified folks like you can't get a job, yet complete morons continue to be employed in just about every industry. (Last week I had to walk our IT specialist through the process of setting up a network printer because he'd never done it before and couldn't figure out how to do it... I was like, "Where did you get your degree from?" And you wouldn't believe how much they pay this idiot!)

Glad to hear that you're at least able to keep your spirits up though. This time of year is prime for depression, you know. Don't let it get to you.

carlson, councilman, close enough, I'm getting old, but councilman designed it for the navy.
It is ironic that his first name is neil. He also designed the N connector (Navy) that the bnc is the center subset of.
