    Default ILDA DB-25 Breakout Poll

Ok, I'm putting together the parts list for the 2nd run of the ILDA boards and I'm trying to figure out which connector you guys prefer. This will help me determine how many of each I should order. The options are, a simple screw terminal, featured on the last run of the breakout board. Or an MTA-100 (molex kk style) pin header and connector. The connector would be included with the board, all you would need to do is punch the wire into the connector, this can be done without any specialty tools.

    Thanks guys!

Edit- If you're not sure what the ILDA DB-25 Breakout board is, see this thread: http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...ead.php?t=5664

Um... I am not sure. These screws can be a pain in the ass to get to if you have already installed the board. I'm not hip to make plugs though either. I am happy with it as is.

I have one of the version 1 boards and I think it is wonderful (thank you lasernerd!). I really like the screw terminals, no solder and a few turns and bang it works! I can imagine that you could have two versions depending on how your color break-out board works. The reason I say this is because I really got my head stuck on stackable boards. Maybe more later, but that is the most feedback I can give until my scanners arrive. -Adam

Laser (the acronym derived from Light Amplification by Stimulated Emissions of Radiation) is a spectacular manifestation of this process. It is a source which emits a kind of light of unrivaled purity and intensity not found in any of the previously known sources of radiation. - Lasers & Non-Linear Optics, B.B. Laud.

I don't know who makes them, but we have these contacts on some National Instruments boards where you insert a screwdriver into a slot then you can put in the wire. When the screwdriver is removed, the wire is held in REALLY tight, on the power distribution blocks we use, it snaps the 10 gauge monster cable before the wire comes out of the connector. They are really easy to work with and come in all different sizes. I will see if I can find out who makes them.

Molex are the way to go IMO.. Quick disconnect, small and neat..

Its also quite easy to solder the wire into the molex connector pins - that's what I usually do

I must say one more time, thank you again for the 2 boards I got
They are PERFECT as they are now i think..
The Screw terminals is so easy, no soldering, and if there is an error (like my laser today) you just un-screw the wires and try the other way

Anyway, if I should have that "PERFECT" board in my lasers..
I only wish there was one ILDA input , and one second ILDA output plug

I still need to solder one OUTput plug and screw that wires in paralell with the board I did recive..

Screw connectors. Quicker, and usually a better hold. And mess free too.

Screw connector, seems like it will be quick and easy to use.
