Default 8W Copper (Bromide) Vapour Laser - Mod's and conversion to a FX laser.

I have been to pick up my new toy this morning. An ex-medical Aesculap +ProYellow CV laser.

I have plugged it in and it coming up with a 'room door not closed' error which I have got to address. It's just a case of dismantling and gaining access to a 'room door switch interlock' on the back of the laser. Must have been for the laser room door to prevent extra human access when the laser was in operation.

I will be back soon with hopefully some pictures of it lasing. It does 2.5W of Yellow @ 578nm and 5.5W of green @ 511nm.

I have two of them for sale if interested... flightcased and including collimator (for one) and CT6860 galvos, STP8s for blanking and color selection etc. mine are a little different than the one pictured, but from the same company, and i think it is the same tube..

    Out of interest...

Are these lasers watercooled, and are they single phase or three phase?

Single phase 230V at about 12 amps. air cooled... copper lasers are very effective beasts.. allmost up there with Dpss's and CO2s...

GOOD GOD! This thing is AWESOME!

Needs the optics cleaning and a few cobwebs removing but my GOD it's bright!

Tha laser runs all the time once it's gone through it's auto heatup and check sequence and colour selection and beam on/off is all done with dichro's and mirrors on actuator flags. I put my camera lens cover in the 6.8W 511nm beam and it kinda burnt it sort of thing!!!

To get it running I have had to defeat the 'room door interlock' switch and the key off/on switch because I don't have the correct key for it.

Pic's below, but they perhaps don't do it much justice:
