    Question

Why don't you build one of these? Sounds about as complicated as a PC CPU cooler. There is a good probabilty I could even do it. Unless I am missing something.

PC cooler is not capable of cooling to temps of 18-20C

I tried that! works ok as long as the temp outside is below 40F

Yea, but if you put a TEC in there, either use the water block to cool the hot side of the TEC you should be able to go sub zero. You could also use the TEC to cool the water, but I amnot sure how cold you'd get. I had a 437W TEC waterblock that I could get 18 to 20 C on a 3700+, one of the hotter AMD sckt 754s running benchmarks. If you are interested I may have a lot of the parts used in that build. I still have a monster radiator, 3x 120mm with 1/2 inch barbs. I still have the TEC but the block is supporting a laser part or two in the projector. You could use that pump; it is a nice little unit.

You are correct in saying that specific set up pictured will not get you those temps, but you can buy or build one that will. The more I try to remember my 3700+ set up, I may have had a water cooler refridgerent "cooler" chilling the water for the TEC... but I was also pumping 1.8 volts into the CPU and still getting 20C on a full load.

    What are you cooling?

I tried the 80watt TEC with the waterblock,,no luck.
I am VERY interested with your TEC cooler goodies,
that was the way I wanted to go !

I think it is one picture previous: (LightWave 532 CW or Q-Switched)

I got to check it out on Friday, damn that thing is powerful!

Laser (the acronym derived from Light Amplification by Stimulated Emissions of Radiation) is a spectacular manifestation of this process. It is a source which emits a kind of light of unrivaled purity and intensity not found in any of the previously known sources of radiation. - Lasers & Non-Linear Optics, B.B. Laud.

www.chillercity.com - just tell them your specs, and they'll search their inventory of thousands for the closest-match...
prolly a Neslab CFT-25 or 50... Oh, sorry - didn't see the next postings, before posting this...

They also have TEC coolers for larger apps... But sounds like Aaron (allthat) can prolly hook you up....

    peace..

    Thanks
I'm currently studying HVAC in college, and phase-change cooling has always been a hobby of mine. Would you be interested in me building a chiller for you? I could chop up a window aircon unit to make a chiller with an approximate 1466 watt cooling capacity, plus it would have the bonus of being able to exhaust the waste heat outside during the summer
