Default Which of these burners has the best diode

    Hi all,

I'm currently trying to build a laser module with a DVD burner diode (no new story I know...). I have already built a driver. But now I have the choice between these burners:

    - Samsung SH-S222A (22x) € 18.00
    - Samsung SH-S223F (22x) € 17.00
    - Samsung SH-S202H/J (22x) € 18.00
    - Lite-On iHAS120-19.6 (20x) € 19.00
    - Asus DRW 2014 L1 (?x) € 25.00
    - NEC AD5200A (20x) € 25.00
    - Pioneer DVR-215D (20x) € 26.00

Do you guys know which burner contains an open can and which contain a closed can? I'm not really interested in their power, since I won't be running them at their full power (safety...).
Life is short.... Ride it hard!!

If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.

Yes, I registered there just to buy diodes (which I received today actually)
It's much cheaper than buying whole DVD burners. The guy I bought from actually offers free shipping worldwide ...

If you need closed cans, I still have some Rohm diodes. I might be persuaded to sell 5 if I'm offered enough. I intended to keep those I have left but I didn't follow though with my plans, and money is short. Might even try on eBay again but I don't have many, so I'd rather sell on request here than try to punt them out. Only saying this here because it looks like some might be wanted.

    EDIT:
    Attached PDF files for data...

    I did my research about 8 months ago and the conclusion was;
Pioneer seemed the most promising (112 through 116 models)
Lite-on-on was used by some as diode donor.
    NEC & ASUS ??
Samsung was using an odd unusable diode mount, no good.

BTW which diodes are they selling on CPF?
I have all the parts for a dual red incl TECs and drivers, mounts etc just not the best diodes and a chronic lack of time....
