it was a good venue for the amount of people we had. but if 4 is to be a big or even semi big meet would it be big enough?!

Trouble with Surfleet is its so far out of the way. Be far better in my opinion to have somewhere central with good transport links.

I would consider anywhere from Staffordshire south and within the M1, M6 block to be central.

Hope that Fluff comes across this thread and enlightens us how we stand with regards the venue. Fluff has done great sorting the venues for the passed meets but we don't want Fluff to feel pressured into having to sort out the venue for the next meet. If he can then Great, if not then we need a plan B to fall back on.

I guess central would be (assuming Leicester not happening), Nottingham, Chesterfield, Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley.

All of those are pretty much mid country if you take Scotland into account (given are a couple of members there), rather than just England, and have good road links.

Sheffield, Rotherham and Chesterfield are particularly good road wise as they sit both on the M1 and Junction with the A1 so are easy for people coming in any direction be it North or South. Also those 3 being such large cities, there should be plenty of venue choice. I can think of a few in Sheffield and perhaps 1 in Rotherham straight away, in fact Rotherham would be 3 phase but I don't know about expense on that one (Magna Museum if you're wondering - they do hire out rooms for events. I think that may simply be too expensive)

However, I'm pretty new here and not a meet vet so don't want it to sound as though I'm dictating venues. Just trying to be helpful / practical.

    Hi all ...

im up for the next meet ( work permitting ) Rob mentioned a couple of days ago that he will be speaking to mark ( fluff ) ... so hopefullly he will be able to put us in touch with whats happening .... at the same time we know that Mark was hit hard with his health ( he was a tech/roadie for some of the top bands and lifting flight cases does not do much for your back in later life ) and also with some "businees deals" (ok i wont bring up that thread again ) .... and knowing him as one of the nicest guys i have ever met .... i would never want to impose on him...

I am currently working out in a small town in trinidad so its not easy to ring him from here ... but if you are reading this Mark .... Happy new year buddy hope all is going well ... i will call you when i get back

hopefully i will see everyone at the next meet ...

    all the best .... Karl

I did a show at Magna. That is a HUGE venue, it's an old steel works we had 12000 in there at a Tidy event.... Even the second and third rooms were huge... Wicked venue, but I would imagine it would cost a fortune....

To give you a clue, in the 5th picture we are at the lighting and effects control area which is in the middle of the room.

    Some pics for your pleasure
