Then I think the 7 kilowatt passbank from a 920 and a small 4" square heat exchanger from a co2 will get you where you want.

16 big npns on a cold plate.

    Overkill.

And I have a pile of them

Do you have a 5V 100 amp supply?

What kind of $$$$ are we talkin about? Let's see...

Cooling,,,, Well I'd say air cooling is a lot easier and economical but I could go water cooling if necessary.

No bigger than a bread box... I'd like to keep as small as economically possible.

    Yes, I have a 150A @ 5V switching PS. See above pic...

Let me know if you need any more info and PM me a quote.

I may have to just go that way. Rewinding a MOT for proper current and voltage would be easy. I just don't like all the bulk. I'd really like to run a compact lightweight switching supply. Don't mind my whining,,, I just got a little pissed after blowing the meter I was waiting to get for 3 weeks. Worked great for a few hours of testing.

What I'd REEEEALLY like to get is one of these power supplies... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdLZA...eature=related See 15 seconds into the video.

Unfortunately I can't get an answer from the guy who made the video as to what the make and model is. I just want a nice clean digital current and voltage adjustable PS. Seems like a no brainer but I can't find one on ebay or anywhere.

I can understand and agree with all of that! I'd just need a schematic on how to properly drive the transistors and I'm sure I could figure out the rest. PM me a price for one of those passbanks.
    Thanks!

Hey, if you get somewhere on the power supply, I wonder if this solid state chiller would help? It was used to cool the probes on a 1997 Coherent Versapulse cosmetic laser. Weighs about 20lbs, runs on 115VAC at 5 amps and chills up to 250 watts. Got anything to trade? :-)

I may be interested in obtaining another one though.

Oh ah cool! I didn't see that you had gotten one of those. So how much do they go for broken or working? Did you get your bad thermocouple replaced? I may happen to have several more indivual thermocouples from another chiller that was scrapped.
