    Default Garage scrim shots...

Here's some "interesting" shots I made over the weekend using a scrim in very cramped quarters. I only had about 10 feet (remeasured - edit) from the projector to the scrim, and about 10 feet (remeasured - edit) from the scrim to my OLD digital camera on the tripod. A lot of reflection "sheen" from the No-See-Um scrim at that range - guess I need a bigger garage!!

    Anyway - here they are.....

Damn that looks cool! What specs on that laser? And any chance you could say how big the mesh size is (in mm or whatever you use). Looking to get something locally.

    Cheers for the pics!

    Thanks for the comments!

Here's a link to a discussion on the "scrim" that I (and several others) are using:

    http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...ighlight=scrim

As far as laser specs, my "out of balance" projector uses a 400mw 532, about 400 mw 660 (dual Maxyz), and 100mw 473. I definitely need to do some "tuning" on the optics, and probably not getting the optimum beam output right now, but it still looks pretty cool!

The pictures really don't do the "scrim" effect justice, probably due to the proximity and angle of the camera to the scrim. The "secondary" beam effects of the light passing through the scrim makes for some VERY cool shows - although I could definitely use another 20 to 30 feet of space to work with so I could spread things out a bit more.

Here's one more - - really highlights the "filtered" look you get shooting with smoke & a scrim between the camera and projector:

Nice pics, Randy! That Skeeta scrim is working great. (I love that stuff... Kudos to DLSI-Jon for suggesting it to us!)

    Bitchin' shots, brother!

RE: the 'sheen' problem... yep, it can sometimes make for a 'cool' effect; sometimes, be annoying certainly, for pix, SO - HERE's a friendly tip fer ya (and I posted it in the 'Group', only-so it won't get 'lost' in-time, like thread-bound tips tend-to...knowwhatimean? ... Hint: the 'tip' is in my latest 'post', there...

Thanks, Adam!... ...and I know you're not 'implying' this, but, 'just for the record' (and as a small, corny joke on all the as-of-late 'controversial' PL 'personal-crusade / product-pushing' threads... ) I DO NOT WORK FOR / MAKE 'SKEETA'!!! Just 'sharin' the luv'...

Thanks, Marc - and someday in the foreseeable future, all that "sheen" on the scrim will be from a MASSIVE overdose of 532nm beams...
