When I first learned, I used Solidworks For Dummies by Jankowski. I have a copy of the book I can send you for cheap. They are $40 new and are great.

I started off with the book, then continued on my own. I found it to be a good reference in the beginning.

Re the scanners check else where in the forum for reviews, I have purchesed the laserworld 50 K scanners, and you should be aware that to get this speed you need to replace the mirrors with supplied ones (something i considered and chicked out of once investigating how much hassle it is to get spot on) and also it is a limited angle that you get 50 K.

In reality i run mine at 19 K at about 25 Degrees and they seem to be able to run like that forever with out any heat issues. I could probabbly drive them a little harder but having blown 3 sets of cheap arse chines scanners im not willing to rist it .

The extra mirrors were supplied with the galvos the i got from Laser world. in They are very tiny and easy to miss, re check you packaging you might find them. They were in the plastic bag with the manuals for wiring etc.

If you get stuck let me know i can probably send you mine as i do not plan to use them. my next set of scanners will be genuine CT, i think at the end of the day you get what you pay for and i have had enough of dealing with sub standard gear.

Dont get me wrong the LW scanners are ok .... but it was not immediately apparent they weren't 50k Scanners from the out set and you need to go through a bit of dicking around to get them so they will run at 50 K.

I put it all down to learning as you go.

I think a lot of people on here have tested them and come to the conclusion they run well but at 30K rather than 50K. That's not to say they won't do 50K but I think most agree its pushing it to run them that fast.

Treat them as 30's and you'll probably be very happy as they seem to deliver quite good performance at that speed. I have a set in a projector although mine haven't been tested using ILDA patterns so I couldn't really comment on quality, but I believe Karl (Carl?) I forget which one, has a set in one of his projectors too and that he's tested using the ILDA patterns and quite likes them. I don't know which set of mirrors either of us have fitted - whether its 50k mirrors running at 30k or the larger ones. As mine were in a pre-built projector specified for 50k I suspect I have the 50k mirrors fitted.
