Default Another case idea - looking for comments...

Having built one projector case "from scratch" (and vowing never again! ), I'm looking for a more "prefab" case for my next projector.

I have a Middle Atlantic RK-series rack case, which is made of extremely sturdy 5/8" high-density laminated particle board. Rather than building up a completely separate base plate for the lasers and optics, I'm considering bolting a 1/16" aluminum plate directly to the inside bottom case section to house the lasers and optics, with a separate rack self for the electronics.

Any comments / concerns would be appreciated...

Here's the type of rack case I'm talking about:

    Thanks for the offer!
I guess I better make sure my idea will work for the lasers & optics before I invest in the additional hardware!

Here is what I bought on craigslist today- 75 bucks for both. They were both popping fuses. I just bought them for the cases & parts. Tons of aluminum knobs, nice heatsinks, fuses, etc. The black one is going to be my new projector. I like the "road gear" look to these too. My Lumia project is going into the case from an old Peavey reverb that smoked back in the 80's. I double checked, and the reverb stacks nicely on the amplifier (Lumia stacks nicely on the RGB scanner). IMHO these cases add a little extra knock-around portability factor, and they just look cool.
