A scrim on a roll similar to those drop down screens for Presentations etc. might work.
Only sticking issue may well be the stifness of the scrim and its ability to roll neatly up and down into the housing without becoming creased etc.
Start off with beams, then have some "low" or extreme side ones whilst the scrim folds automagically down then WW the audience when images appear floating in the air.
With the right musical accompaniment that would be fandabidozy.

I'm getting shivers down the spine just thinking about it !!

    Hi.

I vote for combination as well. Proper beams with short graphics animations and patterns in between.

I did 4 minutes of 3D animated story about a mule going around the globe on motorbike, stoping at famous destinations combined with product information, design and some lifestyle ideas as well which had start, finish and make sense...it took me 2 months (I did sound for it as well). Lot of programming in 3D Max, lots of frame work, lots of synchronization!!!

27 minutes of a good graphics?....uuuu . They would have to pay you colosal money for that.

..AND.. no one is going to stand and watch any kind of graphic laser show for 27 minutes unless....some kind of religion or what!

    BEAMS!!!! BEAMS!!!!! BEAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Graphics never really do it for me. the energy and "AWE" of those coherent blazingly bright beams is simply orgasmic!!!

i love the build up of shows!! music on....slow "pretty" lights....venue goes black.......smoke fills in the air........music plateaus.....beat kicks in......and BOOM...........FU*#ING BEAMS EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    aaaah.......i need a cigarette...............

graphic shows can come out rather cheesy but I'm graphics minded.
The technology needed to get it right appeals to me and I've always liked line drawings. Also simplicity rules, the designer needs to be a real artist to say a lot with only a few lines.

Some time ago I came across the 'proud to be American' show.

This is a show I like for it's artistic value, the content, well .. it is rather "American". Despite the discussion it may fire I posted it because I've looked it up several times just to see how things were done.

Oh yeah the endless recycling of happy dolphins and clocks sliding down stairs gives graphic shows a bad name.

Other than that interactive graphics rule !

Definitely beam shows. If I want graphics, I use a video projector.
