    Default Has anyone seen this?

    I want one of these:

    2007 ILDA TECHNICAL AWARDS
    Fenning Awards for Technical Achievement

"Patented Remote Control Color Convergence Alignment Tool for RGB Laser Projectors"

MediaLas, Germany - By using a wireless remote control with joystick, or an automated external sensor, the three laser beams (red, green and blue) inside an RGB laser projector can be shifted and aligned at any time, even during a running laser show.
The exponental function of the remote allows shifting colors within a tenth of a milliradian to assure the finest and most exact matching. On fixed installations and/or cruise ships, this technology can be automated by using an external optical sensor somewhere in the installation room, which links wirelessly to the projector unit.
Two patents have been filed on this device.

Yup, it's on their Infinity line projectors. Basically I think that's "just" stepper motors on the dichro's mounts, for both x and y axis, each color, remote controlled by an accurate joystick.

I'm sure it's *very* practical, no more needs of removing the projector's front panel to manually turn the dichr'os adjustments, going far from the projector to verify alignement, return to projector to adjust again, etc

I think it's pretty expensive! But due to this feature and many others, these projectors seems to be the *perfect* laser projector imho...

Very nice, I came close to implementing an idea like this several years ago. I also thought of a way to automate it. Instead, due to time and space constraints, I opted to build my projector only with the ability to align it without removing covers. Very cool stuff!

Hardly patentable. What the heck was the patent office thinking.
Motor positionable optics mounts have been around since the 60s.

I believe you can challenge the patent and it will be thrown out if you can show it was already developed earlier by someone else.

    Cool

Dirk Bauer had 3 of those Infinity series projectors on the ILDA cruise, and he demoed the remote alignment box for us. It was pretty cool, but the projectors are really expensive. (Something like $28,000 for a 3 watt RGB unit.)
