Default New Build... The Daedal 'EMBLEM'

EMBLEM: Expensive Metal-Boxed Laser Emitting Machine

Well... I started working on my new 'EMBLEM' recently after having acquired all the necessary equipment and components. The work started as a computer graphic, to a big expense about 3 weeks ago. I got the metal pieces about 3-4 days ago, and had been slaving over it nightly after getting back from work.

I had a previous build that was put together on a smaller aluminum plate, but I was very unhappy with how it looked and how things fit in there.

So, this is a 12" X 12" X 24" case that houses a 0.5" X 12" X 24" plate that is 6.5" away from one side and consequently 5.0" away from the other. The bars are all 1" cubes with extremely amazing temperature properties and strength-to-weight ratio, not to mention the cool look of the bars themselves. The case itself (without the aluminum plate) is not heavy at all... the plate though makes it a whopping heavy piece of kit to carry! I can only imagine what this will feel like with all the other stuff added in.

    Planned components:
    - Lasers:
    - BluRay
    - Blue (Not counting BR, 1 and maybe 2 colors)
    - Green
    - Red (2, maybe 3 colors)
    - All associated laser power supplies
    - DT40 Pro
    - Mini PC with QM2000

I would like to get your opinions and suggestions for all the little details now that I have a fully clean and empty slate to start with, comments and questions are also welcome

    Regards;
    DDL

    Thumbs up

Nice metal! Did you use the smaller plate also? I thought you were farther along...

    Thanx!

I did not use the smaller plate... I'm still not sure if it will end up being the 'lower' level for the power supplies or not, but I will know for sure soon

I will try to get more of it put together tonight and update as soon as possible...

Thank you DZ. I'm sure FLEM will be just that much better with this addition

It won't compete much with your awesome build though

It will certainly qualify for one of the projectors with the most colors! (right up there with Aaron's rig.) Can't wait to see it in action.

Nothing compares with DZ's rig, dude. Nothing. But that's OK. It's not a contest after all. (If it was, DZ would have won long ago!) It's just going to be cool to see your unit running.

Oh, and just to let you know, I've got a color correction board in my projector now, along with an easy way to bypass it so I can give people the "before" and "after" demonstration with the flick of a switch. (Well, 2 switches to be exact.) So that will also be on-tap for FLEM.

Are you going to mount lasers+optics on one side of the ally plate in the middle, and mount upside down the PC/DAC/PSU's on the other side of the board, or do you have another plate to go in at the bottom?

    Awesome case build!

Would you mind divulging some details on the aluminum bar stock you used for the frame? (where you got it, part #, cost, etc.).

That definitely looks like the right material to use!
