it would be better to have a push button
if you cant repair ( or dont want to repair ) your remote
ive seen they are available here http://www.images2.co.uk/Stage_Effec...e_FX_Machines/
for £27 you can have a new wired remote with auto control timers
or for £34 a replacement wireless
both suitable for the Z80

i Love a bargain
all the best ... Karl
Karl - you legend!
I've just ordered one, so should be with me in a few days time.
Thanks for finding that, I had a look on eBay myself, but I guess your bargaining nose was more highly tuned than mine.
I've just got back in from Maplins, and have that switch and a pack of fuses on my desk. Always good for spares I guess...
Stuff the wireless remote, that ebay wired one is good enough for me.
I didn't want to pay for a new £37 remote, as the whole bloody kit cost me £25 'new'
So thank you all to everyone who has chipped in with help - I've learnt a hell of a lot about the buggers, as well as how to clean it
But Karl sir, I owe you one beer for your fine efforts! (ULKM4)
Ta,
Dan
Good dan
if when you get it and all works ok .... maybe worth getting another
from my past experience its always the remote that plays up first
or someone spills there pint in it
for 99p you cant go wrong
all the best ... Karl
Karl,
The remote arrived this afternoon, and I promptly plugged it in.
The "Snow" remote has 3 buttons; Timer, Power & Snow.
After connecting the fogger to the mains the unit starts heating, then the red power led comes on if I press power button. After 3-4 mins, the unit makes a 'clunk' and the red power LED starts to fade out. Then it doesn't really do anything, even if I press the green "Snow" button, or use the yellow timer button and twiddle the dials at the top?
Am I doing something wrong?
Any other ideas? or should I rip out the guts of the remote and connect up the green push button to the mains?
We're so close!
Ta,
Dan
Sounds like Karl stitched you up there!!
We'll hold him down at the meet whilst you extract revenge (it's the laserists code of honour!).

To be fair, I think I've got something a bit more powerful than a fogger remote. You see, I press the 'snow' button, and the temperature outside drops 10 degrees and the whole country grinds to a standstill, as little white flakes fill the sky.
(It must be that flux capacitor I soldered in)...
If I can't get this box of tricks to work, I'll just have to make do with a small fire in the corner of my room to get the 'fog'.

OK, curiosity has got the better of me, and I whipped the back panel off the remote. The unit looks new from the front, but there is a lot of flux deposits hanging around making the thing look a bit crap inside.
But the most annoying thing is the fookin' gypsy soldering on the back of the pots - virtually non-existent! I'd be very surprised that they make contact at all! I'm going to re-solder (or should I say SOLDER) them on and get back in touch later captain
Dan
Hi Dan
sorry for the delay but im currently in Poland ... and ive had no internet for the last few days ....
yep i could have been wrong but for 99p i thought it may have been a good chance as it used the same euro connector ..... before you rip it apart can you take some photos of the new remote inside
maybe we can see if we can make it work
all the best ... Karl
