    Default Home Brew

    Just curious- anybody home brew?
My kitchen smells like boiled malt barley & hops at the moment & I am waiting for the 5 gallon bucket of wort to cool down so I don't singe the yeast. This one is a brown ale.
My favorite beer as of this moment is St. Peter's Cream Stout- I tried one last week and cannot get enough since! Those boys across the pond know their brew I must say. I will be elated if this batch resembles Newcastle in any form.

have you ever seen the 'Modern Marvels : Brewing Beer' episode? It was quite enlightening and made it look so good.

yes, I saw that one- and out of some divine coincidence, it was while I was brewing my last batch! (and drinking a few for the sake of ceremony)
I am all about well intended libations, be it to the eye or the mushy thing that carries on my autonomic functions! Pardon my slurred cohesion- I get carried away on brew night++ It is all part of the intricate and delicate process that makes things go the way nature intended (insert yeast burp here)

my dad does home brews! he is actually REALLY good at it.

quick lil funny story...(well, funny and sad i guess)

he is pretty sick in the hospital right now. (spinal meningitis).

anyway...we rushed him there a few days ago and he was toward the the end of the fermentaion process at home for a batch of "bass Ale" (clone obviously).

well i went to his house today to get him some fresh clothes and toiletries and the freaking brew BLEW UP all over his kitchen! LOL. i guess it was ready to be taken out of the bucket and bottled or whatever the next step is and HOLY CRAP...it is ALLLLL OVER the counter, ceiling, walls, NOT a pretty sight.

anyway...thats my quick lil funny/sad story.

Aw man, shoot- I hope your dad pulls thru aOK- that reminds me of stories my Mom used to tell me about my grandpa's bottles blowing up once in a while back in the good ol' days. They had an underground "cave" on their farm used for storing milk, etc. and I guess that is where granddad placed his brew bottles. every once in a while they would hear a "boom" and grandad would say, "%^&*!"

Mike - I've been brewing since 1990. I'm a BJCP Certified beer judge. It's a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it...

Marc - Sorry to hear about your Dad. Hope he's home soon.

I think Milptack said he home brews. I've always wanted to try that at one point. (Too many projects! ) One day I hope to get into it. I love beer!

Let's make a "Laser Beer" with photon mutated yeast! 90% alcohol by volume ofcourse.

    Cool

I homebrew. We had some pale ale w/ amber malt at FLEM last spring. Fred loved it. I've made cherry wheats, octoberfest clones, and even a few hard ciders. Great stuff. Haven't brewed a batch in a long time though. (Probably 6 months)

Hope your father is OK, Marc...
