Smile My upgraded next to 1W-RGB

    Hi all you guys!

Just finished a so hard and long job....
My new "next to 1W-RGB" is born!

Specs are (all units coming from Laser-Wave):
    1 x >250mw @ 635nm (270mw CW)
    1 x >250mw @ 650nm (310 mw CW)
    1 x >150mw @ 532nm (200mw CW)
    1 x >250mw @ 473nm (300mw CW)

    case size: 40 x 40 x 23 cm (double deck); weight: around 17kg.
    - n°2 fans 12V/1W (through out flow) at lower deck (PSU's deck)
    - n°1 fan 220V/13W (through in flow) at upper deck (optic deck)
    galvos: Laserworld LW-50 kpps.
    software: Laserworld "Showeditor 2008".
pictures played at 15kpps (around 20 degrees)
camera: Canon PowerShot A40 (2.0 - 3.2 seconds exposure time)

I know... projector could horrible to see.... but it is always my babe!
    (it's what inside that counts...)

Thanks a lot to Rob *stanwax* and Bridge!

    Greets!
    Stefano (Steve)

p.s. sorry for the ugly screen I used.... It was a fir tree... so colors are not 100% real and not so bright...

Looking great, Steve! Lovely colors you've got there.

It looks like you're running the scanners at a slower speed than you tuned them for. The circle on the ILDA test pattern is supposed to be inside the square, not outside it. Are you running the scanners with the stock tuning from LaserWorld?

Also, it looks like your color speed is a little off. (See the 4 lines at the top of the ILDA test pattern? The 2nd one down from the top is extending too far to the right; it should stop before the shirt vertical line.) Try increasing your color shift setting by 1 to fix this. If that doesn't work, then it could be due to the slow scan speed. Retune at the speed you intend to run at to fix it.

Overall though, the images look great. And the case looks good too. Nice and sturdy. How thick is that baseplate again?

So this makes, what, 2 full RGB rigs you've got now - right? Coooooool!

    Hi Steve

Great work there. You got some great specs in that projector. The images on the tree look pretty good considering.

I noticed you sourced your lasers from Rob Stanwax and must agree that Rob is great to deal with. One of my Laserwave greens developed an problem so I got it back to Rob who then got it back to Bridge. 4weeks later I had the laser back and it is now doing more than twice it's rated power of 300mW so it was a big thumbs up for Rob and Bridge from me.

    Smile more info...

    Hi all guys!

more infos for all of you...

@ DDL...... You don't have to be jelaous.... Your projector will be powerful and rock solid! I've seen pics you posted: you are doing a very good job!

    @ Adam *buffo*..... How R U "submariner"?
Yep. I'm running the scanners with the stock tuning from LaserWorld.
Baseplate coming from my old RGB projector: 1 cm thickness. Case has 3mm thichkness.
About ILDA test: I also tried to set different values of frame size and galvo speed: nothing is changed meaning that circle is always outiside and square is inside. I also checked the original ILDA test pattern I have: circle is outiside too. Maybe I used the wrong ilda test pattern?
(I attach here ilda test I used)

I also checked the value of analogue modulation voltage of each laser head. This is because I know that maximum power is when voltage is = 5V.
Well.... trying to set different values into software controls (Showeditor by Laserworld), I had the best value = 4.18 V
Now I understood because lasers aren't so brighter as when in CW.....
Voltage don't reach the max value (not even 4.5 - 4.6V need for to drive lasers about 85-90% of their full power).
I'm also thinking (when I'll saved enough money...) to buy a new laser software that allow me to REALLY avail of 5 Volts for analogue signal to drive lasers at full power. (Mamba Black?)

@ Carl B........ Thanks to appreciate my job.
Me too have sent back to LW my "old" >200mw blue because it has some problems of internal alignment. Anyway Bridge will fix or will change it as it is still under warranty time. No problem for Laser-Wave.
I hope it will be back to me a.s.a.p. as I have to complete upgrade from RGY to RGB of my RS-800 RGY Laserworld projector, then I'will have my second RGB full color ready for shows
(b.t.w. I paid Euros 100 for UPS curier's shipping from Italy to Beijing...).

    Greetings to all !

HAHA! Still running silent with no leaks!
About ILDA test: I also tried to set different values of frame size and galvo speed: nothing is changed meaning that circle is always outiside and square is inside. I also checked the original ILDA test pattern I have: circle is outside too. Maybe I used the wrong ilda test pattern?
Well, you have the correct test pattern - it's just that your scanners were tuned incorrectly. They've tuned them with the circle outside the square. That's wrong. The circle is supposed to be *inside* the square. (When you get them tuned correctly, you'll be able to display the image much wider.)

If you feel like tuning them yourself, be sure you have the scan speed set to 30K (or whatever speed you are normally going to run them at) before you start. There is a tuning tutorial available on the Lasershowparts.com website that might help you out.
I also checked the value of analogue modulation voltage of each laser head. This is because I know that maximum power is when voltage is = 5V. Well.... trying to set different values into software controls (Showeditor by Laserworld), I had the best value = 4.18 V

Voltage don't reach the max value (not even 4.5 - 4.6V need for to drive lasers about 85-90% of their full power).
Did you check this with a voltmeter, or with an oscilloscope? If you only used a volt meter, your reading will probably be *lower* than the actual voltage. (The modulation signal changes from frame to frame, even when displaying a series of the same frame that has no blanked points.) You really need to use an oscilloscope to measure the blanking voltage.

Even so, based on your observation that the lasers are much dimmer than when running in CW mode, it does look like your controller isn't putting out the proper full-power voltage.
I'm also thinking (when I'll saved enough money...) to buy a new laser software that allow me to REALLY avail of 5 Volts for analogue signal to drive lasers at full power. (Mamba Black?)
    Or Pangolin!

    Adam
