Ah, the dreaded flickeritus! I think that a side-by-side with the easylase is definitely in order- I will do that as time permits. I agree that some of these games are more flickery than the easylase, just by eyeballing them two weeks apart. It shouldn't be too big of a deal, I have gobs of optimization code in ther that is being sidestepped right now in order to use the vector mode on the LD. It will just take some time to play with. I think there is a snowstorm headed towards the midwest- so if I get snowed in for a couple of days... Anyone got some extra time I can borrow?

Now there's a switch... Someone from the North actually wishing they'd get snowed in!

I hear you about not having any free time Mike. And I'm sure everyone appreciates the fact that you're spending so much of it on this project for us! Let us know if there's any other testing we can do to help...

    Thumbs up

One of the best bits about LaserMame for me is that Zoof has been teasing us for a while with his own versions but we've had nothing we (LD2K owners) could play with ourselves.
Now that we've got our grubby little paws on the software it's like Manna from Heaven.

    Cool

Wait 'till you play it at FLEM. The first time you die, the explosion sound will knock you on your ass! (Seriously, it really will be that loud!)

Yeah, I have to admit I spent *way* too much time playing with LazyMame last night. My wife kept asking me how late I was going to stay up. Finally got the hint that it was time to turn the laser projector off...

But this is some seriously fun stuff. And I agree with Richard; it's been hard watching Zoof crank out things for the EasyLase that we could only drool over. But now that we've got a QM-2000 version, we're all happy!

Thanks again for taking on this project, Mike!

I got an email yesterday from Chris Favreau asking about a possible port to Norm's hardware too. I told him that as long as they have an SDK/header file, it should be no problem. That would make LazyMame cover EasyLase, Sound Card DAC, LD2K, and Norm's. We will cover the world in stars, spaceships, and phasers pretty soon!

I played around with trying to clean up the flicker a bit with this. If you load up a game, then exit out, it usually leave a frame loaded to the card. So if you open LD, you can go in a play with the vector settings to reduce flicker, be sure to save your settings to the start up file! There is a bit of a trade off, reduced graphics quality for less flicker, or higher graphics quality with more flicker.
