Who's your new hosting with? 1and1 or something?
The quickest thing to do, would be to upload your .zip backup via your new host's FTP, and then run an "untar" command (SSH) to extract all of the contents on the server. This means you don't have to upload each file via the crusty FTP. It's much quicker when it's uploading one big file, than lots of little ones.

Let me know if you need any more help...

Whats the file type of the backup? I usually get .gz files which are just basically another zip file which does mean it needs unziping and uploading.

What is your new host using? If it has cPanel I can help, if not I don't really know.

    Edit:
To above: really? I never tried it that way...

It's MUCH quicker that way. I had a webshop install for a 'customer' to setup, and there were about 1000 tiny files. FTP would like to take about 20 mins to upload some 4MB's worth of files 'raw'. But if I zipped them, and uploaded that, it was close to 20 seconds. The unzip command took another 10 secs at most.

The only reason I suggested it was because I know Andy has a lot of stuff on that site, it's not 'LaserMan-Lite'!
I'm not saying it's impossible or wrong to do it the other way around, it's just much quicker to do it said way. (And I assume Andy wants his site up pronto)

    Ah.
It may need a little more work than copying files back across, if it's Joomla, there is a very good chance it will use a MySQL database. These need a bit more tinkering under the hood to configure, rather than simply copying it over. I hope the database is in the .zip!

    Well...
See how you get on with the Joomla guy, and if you're still having trouble, drop me a PM and I'll do my best to sort it for you. (I've never used Joomla, but something very similar)

    Errr.. That's a first!
I usually buy it straight from a company, so I know it comes with all the bells and whistles I need. (I hope yours includes databases )

Ah well, we'll hit that fence if we get there...
