@Adrian *RGbee*... I know Italian grammar is very hard for foreign people

But you have to know you almost guessed the right syntax into the phrase you wrote...
" ciao il mio amico "
In fact the right version is: "ciao amico mio" ..... you just have to switch positions between subject (amico) and possessive adjective (mio), then take the article "il" off from the phrase.
