Default Is MAXYDmodules still in business ?

    Hi Folks,

Are Chuck and Maxine still producing 660 nm laser modules ?
I tried emailing Chuck but no response yet.

Sadly, it would appear they are no longer producing lasers

Might be worth a search on a few of the previous posts regarding this issue.

You might find you can produce them yourselves. The heat sinks are a RF dummy load from Diamond and the lenses are Axizs (spell?) products.

The long can diodes are now widely available.

A full internal description has been posted here before with pics.

I have never had any problems with any of the 3 modules I bought from Chuck & Maxine.
I was simply inquiring having been out of touch with this forum for a long while .
I hope Chuck recovers ok. He's a good man . In my dealings with him , I have no complaints about MAXYZmodules . I suspect that Maxine was carrying the workload when Chuck was stuck in bed and maybe their relaionship fell apart as well as the business.
Don't kick a man when he's already down.
Maxine, ya gotta quit smoking. It'll kill you eventually.

    To a speedy recovery, Chuck.

    Cool

Last post from Chuck was 7-12-2008, where he apologized for his absence and made a promimse to fix things. Several people replied with kind words, but he never replied to the thread, nor has he posted in any other thread since then. He logged in to PL several times after that, but he hasn't posted. His last login was 10-29-2008.

As for Maxine, I have no idea when she last logged in, as I can find no record of her user name (K-car) in the members list anymore.

As much as it pains me to say it, I think Chuck has forsaken the forums. I also know that there are a good number of people that are quite upset with him, either because he owes them money or hardware or both. I know some of these people personally, and I agree that they have legitimate complaints.

Personally, I've never had any problems with Chuck. My original Maxyz modules are still going strong after 2 years. In fact, I was such a champion of the Maxyz modules that I've helped other people get in touch with him in the past. And I have to say that with a little prodding, Chuck usually took care of the issue. Even if the diode was killed by back-reflection (which is not covered under any warranty), Chuck would usually fix the unit at cost. But starting in late 2007 to early 2008 time frame, things went downhill fast. Lots of people started contacting me with very serious claims, including fraud.

I didn't want to believe it at first, but there is some very strong evidence to support those claims. At the very least, Chuck was criminally negligent in the way he handled people's money and property. Still, I think if he had made good on his promise to fix the problems, people would have been willing to cut him a break. Instead, he stopped posting here, and that just made everyone even more suspicious.

I think a lot of people have written Chuck off as a scam artist, and that really bothers me. Like Rick, I too have my original set of Maxyz modules in my projector, and they've been working just fine for over 2 years now. Plus I really liked Chuck, and it was very hard for me to see him as a scam artist. But whether the problems were created through neglect on his part or through a willful intent to cheat people, the result is the same: people got screwed... And those people are now (rightfully) angry. It's just a really sad story.

At this point, Chuck might be able to repair the damage done to his reputation by making good on all the deals that have gone south. But I doubt it's going to happen. There are some people out there that got a good deal from Chuck, and those people are happy. But there are also a number of people out there that lost a lot of money (and/or property) because of him, and they are most certainly not happy.

I've heard Chuck's story, but I've heard other people's stories too, and in some cases I know those other people personally, so I trust them at least as much as I used to trust Chuck. That's why it was so hearbreaking to see all this unfold. But I have to face reality. Chuck has abandoned his clients and the community here on PL. I don't think we'll hear or see much from him ever again.

If you got a good deal from Chuck, congratulations. Consider yourself fortunate. If you didn't get a good deal, know that you are not the only one. It's unlikely that you'll have any recourse, but at least know that you weren't the only one...

Also, as MixedGas posted above, there *is* a way to repair these modules, or even to build new ones. Contact DZ, AllThatWhichIs, or Daedal for more information.

    Fantastic post Adam.

I was trying to think of what to say about this situation, but eventually gave up as whatever I wrote I found it dificult to give a balanced view. Your post sums up everything about the situation in a fair and balanced way

I have two sets of dual Maxys that still work fine, but I did have my share of difficulties along the way. I do hope that Chuck is well as I wouldn't wish poor health on anyone.

I think it`s bad to talk behind someone when they dont are here to speak up for themself..

But I had 2 mazxy modules that did run perfectly for about 2-3 years !
But now they are broken.. but I cant blame no other than myself, when I think I did some back-reflection on them

Anyway, I did donated them both for free to DZ...
It`s better that someone can fix them\use them for other thing, instead they just stay here unused

I still hope mazy (both) come back on this forum..
As I DONT think they ever ment to scam anybody!

Everybody can have some bad luck somethime..
And when It goes to far, I know it must be hard trying to explain everything.

I thinkyour plea for clemency will fall on deaf ears of those who are out of pocket.
Bad luck happens but you should always do "The right thing".

Karma'll get you in the end.
    Just ask Earl.
