    Default Miniature Microphone Chassis Holders?

Does anyone know where I can get a chassis holder for miniature microphones like this?

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?moduleno=4565

I am finally getting around to mounting the chassis components for my scanner, everything is planned and marked out apart from the sound active microphone which I want on the chassis on the front panel... Only trouble is there is no way of fixing it to the front panel.

I have been told about these snap in holders but I cant find anything like them.

    Any suggestions?

I would drill a hole slightly undersize and carefully file untill you get an interference fit. Maybe secure behind with a little hot melt glue.
Thats what I did anyway! David

i have NEVER seen one of these "mounted" they are always held in place with slight pressure or just sitting behind a plastic screen of some kind (like in a cordless phone) where they are held in by nothing..

In the past I've used a rubber grommet like this:

with a drop of superglue to hold the insert in place.
A point of note is that the softer the rubber, the better it works because it provides a bit of acustic insulation between the chassis and the microphone, so the mic doesn't pick up noise from the scanners/transformer etc. The rubber also isolates chassis (mains) ground from the electronics ground .

Actually thats the best idea I have heard yet, I just need to find some that will fit into a 8mm hold I think it is and still allow for the mic to fit in.
