    DrLava:

Yes he did. Steve was replying to earlier comments, prior to the kiwi shoe polish event!
(EDIT: Now it looks like Steve moved it to a PM instead. Not sure if Carmangary will ever see it though, since his account has been clue-by-foured by the admin...)

    Dr Laser:

Sarcastic much? What is with you anyway? Bill's point is valid. You keep going on about how great your solution is, yet few people have seen it because you haven't been to a LEM to demonstrate it. (And not everyone is comfortable using Laserboy, even with your tutorial.) On the other hand, many people have seen what the Pangolin 3DS Max plugin can do, in person at several LEM's, and it *is* amazing.

If you insist on comparing your gear to Pangolin, then you need to be willing to show it off. The tutorial videos of yours that I've watched dealt more with Trace-it and Laserboy than anything else, and while it's a neat idea, it sure seemed to require a lot of steps. I was able to make a few files, but I wasn't pleased with the outcome. If that's what you're comparing to Pangolin's 3DS Max plug-in, then I have to tell you that there's no competition. Sure, it might work, but it doesn't support anywhere near as many shading or masking features compared to the Pangolin plug-in, nor is it anywhere near as easy to use as the one-step, real-time results that the plug-in offers.

OK - for the average hobbyist that isn't going to be able to afford 3DS Max in the first place, the combination of a trial version of Illustrate and Laserboy is better than nothing. I'll grant you that, and I think even Bill agrees with that. Furthermore, what Andrew (Dr Lava) is working on is a step beyond that, both because it's a single step solution *and* because it will add some advanced features. (Including shading, perhaps.) But to compare it to Pangolin's plug-in is ignorant and insulting. You haven't seen it in person, so perhaps you can be forgiven for your ignorance. But your adversarial attitude is unforgivable.

Bill's contribution to this thread has mostly been about ways to add even more features to Andrew's project. That is, until several people (you included) started baiting him. And when Bill replied in kind, you got even more defensive.

I'm tired of it. If you want to prove to everyone here how great a teacher you are, then show up at SELEM and I'll put you on stage with a microphone, an lcd projector, and an RGB rig. Feel free to give us an hour of your best. But please stop replying to every post that mentions "Pangolin" as if it were an insult to your manhood. In that respect, you're no different than Carmangary, despite your work on the trace-it tutorials.

Thank you for using type I, I could actually view that in anarchy, as I'm on the road.

The commercial Learning to fly show I have needs retrofitted, the plane flies between the now downed Twin Towers, (God Willing, may they Resquiecat in Pax,) rotoscoped from a MS flight simulator flight between the towers.

So a nice long flight up a valley would be a great retrofit. Need about 7-10 seconds worth.

And your stuff is a heck of a lot better then the rotoscoped 767 rear view.

    Thanks, Steve

I have ILP's (yes that bastard) learning to fly, pre twin towers, and I'd like to rescript it, to get rid of the New York based scenes.
