I am talking about your real first dollar doing a show for the public?
How many shows are under your belt?
And the Bands you done shows for?

If you don't count free booze as a form of payment I've only done one paid show (for ~1500 people). All in all I think I've done 7 shows, most at my university.
My latest show was at a fairly high profile event though; the (official) Nobel prize after party. Didn't get paid for that one; but with all the pretty girls there I'm not complaining!
Oh, and I started about a year ago.
First gig: 1994. £200 and a case of beer for 6 hours with a 60X running from a Laser Systems Magnm controller.
Biggest payday: NYE 1998: £5K2x 2011 & 3x ALC68
Most fun: Torture Garden, Lesbian Fetish night
Also worked with Hawkwind, Lab 4 and Sci Fi Channel.

1975- Steve Jander showed my first laser effect - 3 motors - I WILL NEVER FORGIVE HIM!!!!
1976 - hene with three motors for a party - free beer
1978- about $100.00 per night & free beer for parties http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...highlight=1978
Been to the top (olympics 88, superbowl 94, Nat Geo, KTP Laser Introduction, Cobra Yag, Mobile Systems, perminant installations, 500 professional industrial shows, a million $ or more at one time) and have fallen all the way back down (unemployed, old, grumpy, with a slight smell of some kind, yet to be figured out...where I am today)- being on top was more fun

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt & selling it in a garage sale.
First 'pro' show in '93; average ~15-25 shows a-year (though last-year topped 30...thus, my 'profile-pic'...
Bands, well...directly: AVA (including Toms' laser-goggles, a personal-fav), Crash Motive, The Orb....
As-Operator (someone-elses' gear, but in some-cases, we built the sys, and Op'd) Godsmack, Rush, Bon Jovi, Tragically Hip, Limp Bizkit, and a few smaller 'indie'-bands / acts (ie: Element K, etc...).
DJs? - Not many, but, if you count all the 'performances' where our systems are-installed, well, a good-few, incl. Paul vanDyke, Oakenfold, Dj Dan and Tommy Lee, among-others (I am sure many-more I don't even know-about...)... and we did some shows at Coachella with Laser Images, in '08...THAT was a fun week! And what a treat to-see Kraftwerk, Portishead, Roger Waters, and Prince - WOW can that guy put-on a show!!...
And 'vicariously' (via other Sho / Production Co's buying our systems, for their tours...yeah, their 'gig' but our 'magic-wands'...), well, 'DSLSystems' systems have done 2x Bon Jovi World Tours, 3x Rush World Tours, and some of Britney's
...
...But I STILL don't have a pic in NatGeo!![]()
