Default Has any one got one of these BIG Tang Models ?

    Hi All,

I am wondering if any one has got one of these units http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Twin-Violet-...3A1%7C294%3A50

the colour looks great and the event if its a more blueish than the violet shown in the images im thinking its not a bad deal.

Any feedback appreciated would like to have some one elses opinion prior to splashing out some cash on this unit.

I have had a number of Tang units (Dmx only) and while limited compared to ILDA projectors thay arnt that bad.

The pictures look promising indeed.. but considering this is 405nm at only 50mw the beams should be barely visible to the eye. You would need lots of smoke and absolute darkness to achieve the effect shown in the picture. Also, due to the 'strange' wavelength which camera's usually don't pickup right, the beams look brighter in the picture then they really are.

I would think twice before spending money on something like this.

It's 405nm. It'll be more violet than the blueish it's shown in the images.

405nm is VERY VIOLET. I've tried to photograph it several times and none of my cameras have managed to capture it; even using the film camera with the crazy Fuji stuff wouldn't do it. Tried Kodak 5-layer colour slide film, even tried Polaroid PolaChrome, nothing captures it. The closest yet was actually the Fuji F10 digital compact, that had a pretty good try, but still, nothing like the saturated violet it really is.

It just comes out a violetish blue when I photograph it. Pity. Anyone got any hints? :-)

Mmm sounds like a little photoshop work on the images, AS i have said i have a coulpe of Tang DMX boxes and they aren't that bad but it would be nice to know from some one first hand how good / vibrant these diodes are.

I dont wish to slag off the chinese suppliers but is seems they have a different consept of what is advertised is what should be supplied.

As stated above any 1st hand feed back greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

405nm is no good for beam effects until you get into much much higher power. with these you could make bright shapes on a fluorescent wall or white sheet, but forget about beam effects.

    Photoshopped pictures for sure!

The beams appear dark blue in the pic's which 405nm Isn't!!

Also one of the feedback items states that the projector was returned as the beams weren't as described (visible?).

Default You can get pictures at least of a static beam...

But I have tried to get scanning pictures and it doesn't work well heck you can not even see it unless it is basically shooting right by you...
