    Default Cdrh shutters

I'd like to spout off a bit about shutters!

YES< I"M SHOUTING! WE HAVE A BIG MISCONCEPTION HERE AT PL.

FOR the record, THE SHOW CONTROL COMPUTER IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THE SOLE CONTROL OVER THE SAFETY SHUTTER. THE IDEA IS THAT THE SHOW OPERATOR CAN MANUALLY TERMINATE THE SHOW IN A EMERGENCY VIA EITHER THE KEYSWITCH OR THE BIG RED MASTER SHUTTER SWITCH. THE COMPUTER CAN BE WIRED IN SERIES WITH THE SHUTTER AND KEYSWITCH! BUT THE KEYSWITCH MUST BE THE FAILSAFE! YOU CANT TRUST THE SOFTWARE TO BE FUNCTIONING 100% OF THE TIME!

    THANK YOU, FOR LISTENING.

where is the "signal" to come from to keep it open?

I THOUGHT that you used a signal from your laser controller across the ilda cable to open and close the shutter and the big button closed it while the signal was still good (signal cutter) and the key switch was required to OPEN it (ak key in the 'on' position closes circuit)

    Thank you Steve!!!!!

I have a heat sink insert that goes into the hole of the shutter arm.
this is a current projector in the build, with this shutter/interlock system the shutter has a second arm that interupts a PTR/Emitter which of course is TTL so it drives a indicator on my display of the positive positions of the mechanical shutter
which also the incorperates the laser heads internal shutter also..

    Meeeza like interlock systems!!

I don't have a manual control over my shutter. I have pangolin wired directly to it (through a driver, of course). However, if I turn off my key switch or press the EPO button, the shutter closes no matter what the QM2K is telling it to do. I just have no manual way of opening the shutter.

The way I look at it, if there is a failure of somekind that is preventing the QM2K from opening the shutter, then it doesn't need to be open, period.

Yeah I think that's how he has it. Like you and I who have worked on argon systems and anyone who has done interlocks, the series arrangement is very common and works well.
