    Default Balaecing RGB?

    What is the balencing ratio for RGB lasers? I know that to make a good yellow you need 1:3 (around 160mW green and 500mW red) but what about the blue?

    You know when your a laser addict when you are planning your next build before completing your current build(s) :P

    Using 650nm red and 473nm blue it's 1:2:4 - RGB .

    Is that 4 times more blue than the green?

    Just wondering so I can plan my next build. Im expecting it to cost around £500 so it will be built over time.

    No the red is 4 times, blue is 2 times ! I should have typed GBR

    Um, not quite. You're never going to need double the green to mix with red! Just the opposite, in fact. (And then some!)

    It should be 1X Green to 2X Blue to 4X Red.

    I also need to point out that this is a gross approximation. It should be close enough to get your started though.

    Ok, sound fair enough.

    In theory I could use 100mW green, 200mW blue and 400mW red? Would work out to 700mW and my target is 500mW but I get where your coming from now.

    What colour do you get when you mix green with blue by the way?

    Umm... Blueish-green?

    Seriously though, it's actually called "teal". And if you've ever seen the beam from a multi-line argon, you already know what the color looks like. Some people call it "light blue", but that's not technically accurate. It's a pretty color though... Sort of like the color of the face in the winking smiley here on PL!

    I think I will finish my current build before I buy any of this stuff haha. Im after either 20k or 30k galvos, around about 500mW total output power, DMX and ILDA.

    I've seen it called both. True, Cyan is the term usually used to describe an ink of that color, but Teal is the term used to describe a pigment of that color. Both refer to a color composed of equal parts blue and green. How do I know this? One of the units at the chemical plant where I work manufacturers textile and paper dyes, paint pigments, and printer inks.

    So either term is acceptable. Though I'll admit that cyan sounds sexier.
