please before doing this keep in mind dams have stilling basins, large chunks of concrete to slow the water flow, and waterfalls by definition have rocks at the bottom. And the water at the base of the dam does loop back into the flow, holding your boat or body at the base of the dam , looping vertically around again and again and again. Ask me how I know........

Not as good as the BBC video, this guy doesn't go airborn for about 50 feet when he hits the hydro "jump" from the upwelling water, but close. Less flow when they shot this one. BTW< the camera angle does not do LLYN Brianne Justice, the thing is HUGE

Stuck with IE 6 at work, so no Firefox. I think the corporate firewall had something to do with it though, because it won't work in Firefox 3.07 here at home either. Finally got to view it using IE 7 on the laptop. (All except for the last link in your original post - that one is broken.)

I agree that the videos are nutty, but the river surfing actually seemed pretty tame. The kayak run down the dam seemed to be more dangerous, but I doubt they'd get trapped at the bottom because they had so much speed. Now, the one guy that got launched like 50 feet - that's pretty crazy. I'll bet he lost an inch or so of height on that landing!

As for the kayak over the waterfall - now *that* is just stupid. But he lived... Go figure.
