Default YAET (yet another ENCLOSURE thread)

    Hi there!

Yeah here we go again: Like almost everyone here, I'm looking for a good, preferably prefab laser enclosure for a small G, or RGY system I'm building.
Now there are some companies (for example JB-systems) here in europe who sell these crap laser toys:

    and

Now these laserprojectors are absolute chinese crap. Some of you will say that the same will go for the enclosures.. but I think they are ideal and kinda pretty for a small system (without the JB-systems logo ofcourse ).
Especially the latter of the two.

I was thinking of buying such a projector and throwing away it's guts.. but even second hand they still go for about EUR200,-.. which I find a bit expensive for just a small case..

I've seen these cases being used for other light effects, by other brands.. so my question is:

does anyone know if these are of-the-shelf cases? If so.. where to buy them? As this is probably chinese.. maybe Bridge can shed a light?

    Thanks!

I would be sure to check the base plate thickness. I have seen other enclosures that have no interlock or shutter, but because you want to gut it that is not a big deal I suppose. Let us know of your progress!

Laser (the acronym derived from Light Amplification by Stimulated Emissions of Radiation) is a spectacular manifestation of this process. It is a source which emits a kind of light of unrivaled purity and intensity not found in any of the previously known sources of radiation. - Lasers & Non-Linear Optics, B.B. Laud.

Those are stock extrusions. Extrusion is usually soft, so you will have to add a baseplate inside.

    small examples:

    Usually made by Hammond etc

Big examples, found by googling extruded electronics enclosure:

    I think
Connecticut Lasers, had a line on some of these and posted.
