    Default Melles Griot Laser Module

I know these went like crazy when I sold my last lot of them here. They are small Melles griot diode modules which have crazy good alignment and collimation and are used for laser cavity alignment. I had been saving this one to use, but I have finally decided to sell it.

This is literally my last one. These are the most amazing collimator out there. For those of you who remember, Steve-O stuck a high power 636nm diode in here and got a wonderful beam that was perfectly round. This has an anamorphic prism pair so it rounds the beam from a square source. If you really wanted to, you could take the prism out of the laser and use it in your projector (hint hint...) to get a great round beam from a red.

This thing even has a 3W TEC under the diode module so you can tune the wavelength of the output by changing the temperature.

I am looking for $100 on this as it is my last one. That is shipped. Pictures are attached.

how much power are you getting out of it?

It's a 4mw 670nm diode, pretty much useless for anything. I sell these for the optics and Tec inside. It is assumed that you will put your own diode inside of this.

    Ben:

Would it take a 5.6mm diode (like an open can red 650nm like you would get from a 20X dvd burner), or would you have to machine up something to hold the diode in, inside the module?

    hi,

    with a 4mW 670nm diode, this could be a TO5 or TO18 diode (5.6mm or 9mm)

if TO5, an adaptor from meredith should fit the 5.6mm diode

would surely be a nice beam corrector for a 642nm or 635nm high power diode

for my part, I'm trying to source cheap anamorphic prisms for homemade beam correction

    Hi:

I have a 400mw 635nm Laserwave laser with a fat beam. Could I shine the 635nm beam thru this to get better divergence to use in my RGB projector?

    Fail!

I couldn't do it... It'd be fine for all of 2 inches (down from 230mW to 65mW by the way) and then would get back to fatter than before... I moved everything and even refocused the laser many times... no luck...

I'm back to looking for a new solution...

    Thumbs up

We need Mike (MechEng3) to chime in here with the details of his 7-element optical solution to the fat beam of a 635 nm diode.

Come on Mike! Spill it! We all want to know what needs to be done to tame this beast...
