I did "wow" on your first post !!
$2K !!
On a "professional" setup of a laser show where I live (i have done it once) .
We was paid only 1k$ during a 5 hours show on a night club..
One time I did a show on a special event, I did recive 200$ for the job...
Including rigging up the lasers (myself, with no help) 1 day before !
So if you guys can get 5000$ for ONE SHOW ??
Damn I take a plane right now
(but Ok, I guess that is not just one RGB laser and som beam effects @400mW)
About doing something for the kids..
I have a Local deal with a Club-house here .. (not a night club)
But there is some kids that use to have a party once in a month..
Only from age 14-18 year..
And the deal is that I can "test" my lasers for free when they have a party..
They use to pay me with free smoke-fluid on my fogger![]()
But I have a nice change to test my lasers on a huge room !!
I can turn them ON or OFF whenever I want (and go home) ..
And the kids love to see some lasers somethimes![]()
Hi guys ...
hope im not putting noses out of joint here ... but....
not a good idea to mention on a public forum .... $per show ...
as adrian mentiond earlier most shows are based on labour rates ...
but also travel costs .. equipment overheads... ohh not forgetting insurance .... and site inspection .... and form filling
every show comands a different price ... its not good to set in public a price per show as customer can google this forum and see that although someone does a show for $5K ... someone else does a show for $200 ...
they will always push for the lower amount even thought the higher show will be a 15W RGB and the lower price will be a 400mw off the shelf projector...
ok tell me im wrong... but please keep your fees private ... ok if you want to share them ... please do via private PM
all the best ... Karl

I think the point to take home here is that you should not give your TIME away for free. If so you really run the risk of being undervalued by others, once the impression has been made its a lot harder to change .
Doing charity work aside - It's a common mistake by those starting off to doing gigs to cheap. After all how are you going to pay for bigger and shinner toys if all your doing is paying the RENT.
