Dipping my toe in the pool of RGB

@ Insanity & P1t8ull I had thought about the new 642nm reds from laserwave but I was under the impression that they are already made up of two diodes with a cube making it not possible to use a second cube to combine the 642 with 671. I spotted last night that Rob is selling some 100mw 660nm diodes on his www.laser-wave.co.uk site but are only TTL and don't look like they can be converted.

You shouldn't really have a problem...

1. You only need a single diode which I believe is an Opnext, so no cube involved.

   add a single HL6385 (150mW/642nm) beam

2. Jem has a Dichro that should work ok

   Jem has the dichro you'd need for sale right now,

So, you should be ok with that solution...

After having a chat with Rob this afternoon the best option for a second red to go with my 671nm looks to be a 150mw 642nm unit as these only use a singal diode so they could be combined no problem with a PBS cube.
It's also looking like I may be sorted with a case and a set of DT40 scanners. Will update on this if and when I know more. Why doe's it feel like this build is going to happen quicker that anticipated.

Well all you people with experience with RGB's seem to think on the same wave length. This is going to be a new learning curve for me.

Anyway an update with regards to a case. I have snapped up a great deal to buy Jem's case that was at the last UKLEM complete with DT40 scanners and all optics and most of the electronics as Jem is building a new RGB, so all I'll need to do is drop my lasers in and job done. I am another RGB member of PL.

Will get some photos posted as soon as all these goodies are in my hands.

Q. At the moment I have two green projectors which are both taking signals from my PM25 desk controller and when my RGB is ready I was planning to run this off the desk just until I can afford an FB3 setup. I'm thinking the desk can cope with driving a 3rd set of scanners ok but with the two greens and the RGB running together, that's a possible 5 lasers all running off one blanking signal. The desk is only for single colour setups. Is this a bad idea or would it be ok? My Idea is to select colors by using three switches on a pannel and each switch having a push button wired in parallel to strobe defferent colours in as needed.

As soon as the lasers arrive photo's will be posted. I am so itching to get my hands on them. It will ba few weeks before I get the case of Jem so no show from me for a while.
