Default Internet Explorer 8 - Slow!!!

I have just installed this latest dross from Microsoft onto my PC and am now thinking of removing it!

It's SO bloody slow compared with IE7!
SLOW to load when started and SLOW to load up pages!

Anyone else experienced this or have any fixes for it?

    Thanks
    Jim

Have not got it yet, but will be getting it, hopefully can load seperate form IE7 so can continue to check web pages I build.
As you have only just installed it your cache of web pages you have visited is empty so will take a while to build that back up again. Is anti-phishing turned on ? It was so slow in IE7 and slower than other peoples versions.
As for start-up time I always set my home page to "BLANK" os much quicker than waiting for a web page to load.

Yeah, I have it installed on one of my work machines. Main problem has been that it doesn't display some (mainly secure) pages properly, missing input fields etc (even with compatability view turned on). Not noticed any loading speed issues though.

If you dont like Chrome, get Mozilla and a few plugins. I gave up on IE when it got oh so slowwwww. I'me very happy with mozilla, even if it does need plugins to manage simple things like pdf downloads and ftp.

I agree, I will be sticking with Firefox in any case. What exactly is different in the new version of IE? Only difference I can find is the tabs are more square around the corners, other than that its still slow and lags when you open it.

A lot of people seem to have some hangups and suspicion towards Internet Explorer, most likely because of experience with I.E.6. I have absolutely no problems with I.E.7 on 25+ machines at work and 5 machines at home.

I use Firefox when I need to be invisible via proxy server, as there is a plugin for it and it works very well (just annoys me that more or less every time I launch it; it wants to install a sh*t load of updates)

I guess I prefer I.E. due to familiarity with it's interface and lack of problems (so long as it's fully updated and clean of bullshit toolbars etc).

I.E. 8 uses different code for increased security and privacy, but I don't think it's ready for full release yet as it's full of bugs and annoyances. When they sort it out; I'll no doubt install it on all of my work machines.

Thanks you everyone for all of your replies.
I have now removed it until they get it sorted out as it was driving me wild!
I have gone back to IE7 but will be trying FF very shortly.

    Thanks again.

Its as quick as Firefox for me.

What is annoying as hell though and slows start up is that extra Live Search Tab that loads every time you start the browser. I thought the EU stopped all this monopoly crap.

You can't turn it off either that I can find.
