    Default Tuesday Morning Fishing

MMMMmmmmm. Dry land fish, mollie moogers, morels, Morchella esculenta.

Every year i look for these yummy yummy mushrooms. Before today, i had hit a 6 year dry spell. They only come up for a week or two per year; at least around here anyway. There is a whole lot more where these come from........

Those are nice- mine won't pop until around the 1st of May, depending on the rain & temps. Good eatin'! A little butter & some crackers, fry 'em up!
edit- Here's a couple pics from last year & a pic of where they came from- I have a few secret hunting grounds like everyone else

    purple ring eh....

like where the mushroom cap breaks away from the stem and the bruising is bluish purple.. that only happens if the mushroom has high levels of psilocybin... oh wait i get it....

I also like to pick mushrooms...

    Wow, nice Morels

Bit early for any edibles in the UK yet

Usually the first edibles are St. George's day mushrooms, so called because they usually pop up around St. George's day which is the nearest Sunday to 23rd April, so not long to wait

Nice and tasty fried up or put in a soup

hehe I see I'm not the only one

we have nice spots here, and we have the chance to know a place where we are able to pick up to 13Kg of morels ^^

    yes 13Kg

the most magnificent one we found was a morchella esculenta of 320 grams and 28cm tall!

a nice pick too, a morchella elata (mid-way between a gigantic morchella and a Mitrophora semilibera) as tall as a forearm !!!

I'll try to scan the pictures we took

this evening I ate a St. George's day mushrooms tart ^^

and when autumn comes, we pick cantarellas, boletus and the like

mushrooms are really nice, I did mycology as a hobby in my weekends during 5 years, and it has really been a nice source of knowledge
