Default There is no smoke without fire...

I just recieved my new cheapy smoke machine from Maplins (ProSound 800) which I got for a bargain price (£35 delivered). I then poured in the Sound Lab medium density smoke fluid and fired it up. At first, I thought the smoke was coming from the new element burning crud off, as the smoke it produced was like that from a burning electrical device, and was slightly brown in colour. I realised at once that the smoke fluid is pants. It has hardly any density and actually "smells like smoke" (not good). When I bought my last smoke machine, the smoke was thick and white and had that classic smell and look to it.

Can anyone recommend a decent brand of fluid please? One that puts out that thick dense white smoke (that kind that used to be used at youth club discos back in the '90's)

    Thanks,
    James

It's the same crap in nearly all smoke fluids, so it shouldn't really matter. Here's what I use and I've never had a problem: http://www.thomann.de/gb/stairville_ehd_fog.htm

Cheers, thanks. I will have to order some up right away ;-)

I will have a search, but can you recommend any inexpensive reliable UK suppliers please?

    Thanks again

I've never seen Froggy's in the UK, it is good stuff.

You can buy Jem from here:

I have dealt with these though with no problems:

Its the Jem Regular DJ Smoke fluid NOT the JR mix. Posting a link direct to the product takes you back to the wrong one!!!

I used the exact same stuff in my Antari (after I had finally taken an axe to the remote! ), and it's certainly NOT brown. I'm quite pleased with the fog it makes, very white and fluffy fog (it doesn't hang around for ages, need to top up the room quite a bit.)
Perhaps it might be worth running a cleaning run on your machine in case there is any crap in the system that needs flushing out?

    Something like that...
I remember a thread on here when I was searching way way back.
It did go off on a tangent about deionised, distilled water if I recall
