Laser Warning I Just gOt PaNGoEd

    I have just been PANGOLIN:ED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got my FB3 package bought from Francesco.

I havent really sat down with the stuff yet but hooked it up with "R+/R-" to my red 800mW
and started Showrider. Works great. atleast the blanking. hehe

havent hooked it up to any scanners or anything else yet, that will happen this weekend.

    Although i have a question.

    Regarding to: http://www.pangolin.com/LD2000/qm2000pinouts.htm

The modulation output is only 0-2.5Volts.
and if i know correctly the modulation for all my laser modules is stated 0-5Volts.
Wouldent this mean that the FB only gives out 2.5 volt and that the laser will not shine at the maximum?

    or have i missunderstood?
(i thought 0-5Volt is needed to make the maximum power)

    Thank you.

    /Rickard

That is only for the QM2K. The QM2K can have differential output for color, if the "-RGB" are grounded, an onboard gyrator circuit forces the output of "+RGB" to be 0-5V.

If I'm not mistaken, the FB3 only has single ended outputs, so the +RGB outputs will be 0-5V.

    Can I join too?!
I've had my FB3 just a few weeks and picked up a copy of LivePro today!

LivePro is 5300% better than LiveQuick. I should have bought it at the time with my FB3!

Many Thanks Bill and Francesco for the super-duper support and top service

My FB3 has differential outputs and it comes in a tidy little box too, so perhaps there is a differential board bolted in there somewhere.

Hmm, it may be some type of add-on. For some reason I thought the outputs from the FB3 were single ended. Maybe it's single ended for the color outputs and differential for the X/Y outputs. Are the color outputs from your board differential?

Instead, it has a different kind of daughterboard that we made just for this box. It gives full differential signals for X and Y, and actually even amplified signals for RGB (by "amplified" I mean it has enough power to drive long cables). There is no external power connection on this. It is meant to be "bus powered" -- i.e. powered directly from the USB cable itself.

The FB3 i got awhile back is the same way.

Yea i noticed the link i gave where for the QM board.

I will check with multimeter tomorrow.. But i draw a line in the editor and all i got was 300mW.

But i didnt check any settings mayby there is some setting to raise the power.

    Cool

The FB3 has been through several revisions. The latest ones are supposed to have both differential outputs *and* support for the smaller XD flash cards. They also come in the metal enclosure now. (Long ago you only got the bare board.)

Yeah - my "ancient" 2007 model FB3 lived in the plastic container from some PX-bought coughdrops for several months!

Worked fine, but sure looked funny - and led to some interesting comments from my fellow detainees....

Congrats, rfourt - you've just acquired some nice hardware!!
