Default 160mw cheap 405nm vs chauvet scorpion sky green laser

    hi all,

has anyone seen both a cheap 405diode similar to whats available here

    http://blacklasers.com/

    or here

    http://cgi.ebay.com/150mW-405nm-Blu-ray-Blue-Violet-Laser-Diode-Module-Kit_W0QQitemZ280333316797QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_Def aultDomain_0?hash=item280333316797&_trksid=p3286.c 0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|24 0%3A1307|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

and a chauvet scorpion sky, both with fog?

    which is more visible?

    how much more?

whats the cheapest for 100mw of a "real" dark blue, perferably a little darker shade than this?

    http://www.diylasershow.com/catalog/...ccfda778fecc64

maybe closer to 450nm. i don't know whats available

wel 405 nm is not realy usable for lightshow applications
since u need several hundred mw's of 405 to combine with a decent pwr green.

473 or445 nm would be beter

got mijne 100 mw 473 for 560 dollars
Do not look into laser with remaining eye

    $560!!!?

    where you get it from??

the site in my link says $1200 for 100mw of 473nm

if i could get one for that, i wouldn't even consider the 50$ placeholder blue

better yet, where can i get 100mw of 445 for a similar price? i want a deep blue.

If you want something close to 450nm then you get get a 457nm blue DPSS, but they are expensive ! 445 is also a nice option, I've heard that it is a very nice deep blue colour.

    Cool

Forget 445nm blue. It's a lot more expensive. 473 nm is going to be far more affordable - though even so it will still cost you more than either your red or green lasers.

100 mw of 473 should cost anywhere from $700 to $1200, depending on the quality of laser you buy. Lasever units are cheap, but they are prone to early failure. There are lots of threads here explaining the problems people have had. You can save some money buying one, but you'd better be adept at installing and removing your laser from your projector, because it's likely that you'll have to take it out and send it back for repair at some point. (I've had to do it 3 times on mine...)

LaswerWave units are a little more expensive, but they have a good reputation and a solid dealer network here on PL. They cost more, but in the end I think you'll be happier with them.

CNI units are slightly more than the LaserWave units, but they are widely considered to be among the best Chinese lasers. Like LaserWave, the CNI units usually make 20 to 30 percent more power than they are rated for. Buy one if you rather just install the laser in your projector one time and be done with it.

Also, you said you want a deep blue, but truthfully the lighter blue that you get from a 473 nm dpss laser is very pretty. I actually prefer it to the 445 nm blue. Projectors that only have 445 don't have any good way of making a bright sky-blue, and that's a color that I think is pretty important.

I'll also admit that adding a little 405 nm violet to a projector that already has 473 nm blue makes for a very nice effect - at least for graphics shows. Beam shows don't really benefit that much from it though, because 405 nm is very hard for the eye to see - especially in the air.

Remember too that you will pay extra for Analog Modulation. A TTL-only laser may be cheaper, but in the long run you'll wish you had the analog unit. So that's going to drive the price up a bit as well.

I told you lasers weren't cheap...
