Snowboard caper caught in bend oregon

Last week my son got his snowboard stolen at Mt. Bachelor (very expensive, he worked hard for it) Today about 5 hours ago, my daughter got her snowboard stolen too (also very expensive) She called me from the lodge crying and really mad. I told her to report it and go back out in front of the lodge and look for anyone acting out of the ordinary. Her and a friend saw a guy not really dressed right pick up another snowboard and walk out to the parking lot. She didnt think really odd of that, until they saw him there again about 15 minutes later, they contacted security to watch the guy and he got a snowboard and walked back to his car. They followed him.

In the trunk of his car they found about 12 snowboards, detained him, called the police. He was in the military from Washington state, comes down here to steal boards and go back to washington to sell them on craigs list. My son got a chance to talk to him and YEP he has my sons snowboard in Washington and the police are on their way to search his apartment. He MAY get his snowboard back...he can identify every scratch and repair on it.

There is a special place in hell reserved for effin theives. I told my daughter she ought try to rush him and SHANK is nasty ass.

Sounds like you've got a sharp daughter there, Pat. Most kids wouldn't be observant enough to catch a thief like that.

Sure hope your son get's his board back too. And trust me, that guy is SCREWED if he's in the military. If they charge him with a federal felony, it's all over for him. And since he was crossing state lines with stolen goods valued at several thousand dollars (12 snow boards at ~ $300-$500 each is a lot of cash), I don't see how the feds can help but be involved.

Serves the bastard right though.

When the guy who stole my phone and my friends bike was cough, it took over 2 months to get everything back!

Wow, I can't believe someone caught the guy!

That's awesome. I'm glad I didn't get my board stolen when I went to Bachelor in February. (I like to think it's just ugly enough to avoid that, but who knows.)

Post up an update when more info comes in. I love hearing stories that involve justice being served.

PERP WALK...BITCH!!! My kids work all summer to buy the latest gear, they are at the mountain at least 3 days a week, my son is an tiny tot instructor up there, When the locals surrounded the guy they said, in the old days they would bury him up to his neck in snow and give him a "yellow snow scarff". he is actually lucky this group of kids called local security they were all 14 to 18 years old and VERY PISSED!
